Why does the job exist?

The Senior Training and Development Coordinator will:
  • Support the delivery, development, and quality assurance of Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD) required training courses for provider agencies across the State of New Mexico;
  • Require a broad and integrated skill set, including facilitating trainings in both in-person and virtual formats, developing curriculum and asynchronous online learning modules, and providing technical assistance to provider agencies statewide;
  • Support training compliance, continuity, and fidelity through monitoring, tracking, and conducting fidelity checks;
  • Require travel as necessary to deliver training and facilitate meetings;
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the developmental disabilities support system, including the three waiver programs and service packages, and an understanding of the population served;
  • Strong, advanced communication skills are essential, as the role requires frequent collaboration with both internal staff and external stakeholders
How does it get done?

The Senior Training and Development Coordinator is responsible for:
  • Providing training and technical assistance to a wide range of stakeholders, including Case Managers, Direct Support Professionals, Therapists, Family Living Providers, Provider Agency Administrators, and individuals supported through the waiver system;
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining a curriculum with a strong emphasis on asynchronous and on-line learning modules, while also facilitating live-streamed and in-person trainings to ensure consistency, accessibility, and statewide reach;
  • Advanced communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse audiences, clearly convey training expectations, and support provider agencies in identifying and addressing challenges related to high-quality service delivery for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across New Mexico;
  • Certifying and enforcing training standards, responding to questions related to training processes and requirements, and providing targeted technical assistance to support compliance and continuous improvement;
  • Monitoring and tracking provider training compliance through data analysis and reporting, addressing concerns, and working with non-compliant provider agencies on solutions to bring them back into alignment with required standards;
  • Participating in in-home health and wellness visits as necessary.

  • Provider agencies & professionals who deliver services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through the Home & Community Based Services (HCBS) Waiver programs;
  • People with intellectual & developmental disabilities and their families.
Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate has:
  • Current Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD) Core Curriculum Trainer or the ability to meet certification requirements;
  • Extensive knowledge of the developmental disabilities support system, including waiver programs, service packages, and the populations served;
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and delivering training, with a strong emphasis on on-line and asynchronous curriculum development;
  • Advanced communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders and translate complex requirements into clear, practical guidance.
    • Minimum Qualification

      Bachelor's Degree in any field and two (2) years of experience in adult education, instructional design, instructional technology, human resources, employee development, training, and/or producing instructional aid/materials. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

      Employment Requirements

      Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

      Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course Certificate as a condition of continued employment within 45 days of employment.

      Travel may be required with some occasional overnight stays. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

      Working Conditions

      Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. Ability to lift up to 30lbs.
