We are seeking an experience Tax Manager to join our Tax department. You will be primarily responsible for the completion of all appropriate tax returns and ensures compliance with Hendrick Automotive Group (HAG) policies and external regulations. Responsible for meeting tax department deadlines.

 

This job has direct supervisory responsibilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Review and/or prepare federal, state, local, and special tax returns for partnerships, S- corporations, C-corporations, trusts and individuals
Review and/or prepare LIFO calculations for all dealerships
Review fixed asset schedules for depreciation for all dealerships
Review various year end tax calculations such as computation of demo wages
Respond to state and federal tax notices on behalf of our dealerships
Implements accounting policy changes related to tax issues
Assist in gathering information for tax audits
Assist Senior Accounting Managers with any tax questions they may have
Research federal, state and local tax issues
Oversee the supervision of the tax staff
Responsible for scheduling Tax Department assignments
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
CPA certification required


Experience:

5+ years of experience in the preparation of tax returns
Experience with ProSystem Axcess and ProSystem Engagement strongly preferred
Advanced knowledge of applicable tax laws and regulations


Skills & Abilities:

Strong ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret financial statements and tax reports with accuracy and attention to detail
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to tax software and other operational systems


Licenses:

Valid Driver’s License required

  • The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled hours may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays to meet required deadlines. Position is not remote due to essential functions of the job.

 

  • Duties are performed primarily in an office environment at the management office and on occasion in dealerships. Position requires frequent interaction with Management Office employees, dealership management and dealership employees. Travel may be required on occasion by car or plane as business needs arise.
