Job Title: Senior System Administrator

Reports: Director of Infrastructure

Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000

Status: Full-time/Non-Union

Primary Function:

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to manage and support our Microsoft-based infrastructure, including on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365ande experience with SharePoint Online. This role will be responsible for maintaining system reliability, security, performance, and end-user support while assisting with infrastructure modernization and cloud initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments.
  • Manage Active Directory, including users, groups, organizational units, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and security permissions.
  • Support domain controllers, DNS, DHCP, file servers, and print services.
  • Monitor system health and performance and implement proactive maintenance.
  • Perform system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening.
  • Manage and maintain Azure resources, including virtual machines, storage accounts, virtual networks, and identity services.
  • Support hybrid identity solutions utilizing hybrid Entra ID/Azure AD and on-premises Active Directory.
  • Assist with cloud migrations and modernization projects.
  • Monitor Azure resources and optimize performance and costs.
  • Implement and maintain Azure security controls and compliance standards.
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and EntraID/AsureAD.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices based on NIST and CJIS policies.
  • Support identity and access management initiatives, including MFA and Conditional Access policies.

Monitor security alerts and assist with incident response activities.

  • Ensure systems comply with organizational security standards and policies.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system diagrams.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for infrastructure-related issues.
  • Collaborate with IT staff, vendors, and business units on technology projects.
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance and on-call support as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience administering Microsoft Windows environments.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Windows Server 2016/2019/2022
    • Active Directory and Group Policy
    • DNS, DHCP, and file services
    • Microsoft Azure administration
    • Microsoft 365 administration
    • SharePoint Online administration
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Nutanix or Hyper-V.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be familiar with troubleshooting SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365-related issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure technologies.
  • Strong understanding of cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to work with technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft certifications such as:
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert
  • Experience with:
    • Intune and Endpoint Management
    • Entra ID (Azure AD)
    • Microsoft Defender Suite
    • Backup and disaster recovery solutions (Veeam, Zerto, IDPA)
    • Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps)
    • Nutanix, VMware, or hybrid cloud environments
