Summary of ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Sustaining Engineer provides mid‑level Engineering support to the operations business unit and departments by troubleshooting difficult problems, instructing technicians in techniques to resolve issues, and leading teams to improve productivity and achieve EFW's business objectives.Responsibilities and TasksWrite, review, and modify test procedures for troubleshooting electronic assemblies.Support test technicians by troubleshooting difficult problems and teaching resolution techniques.Develop test equipment and assemblies to aid technicians in isolating problems.Conduct research to resolve production difficulties.Write ECPs to correct product errors and resolve production challenges.Provide new‑product setup, programming, and support, including ECO and process improvement implementation.Be prepared to support all schedule requirements through on‑call or overtime.Lead, participate, and contribute to a team environment within the department and across the organization.Stay abreast of state‑of‑the‑art technical and equipment issues through training and self‑development.Adhere to internal ethics, procedures, and external regulations and laws.Support the Sustaining Engineering and Operations department's performance goals and objectives.Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.Education, Experience & License or CertificationBachelor's degree required; 5‑10 years functional experience may substitute.Associate's degree required.Specific degree field: Technical (engineering, electronics, etc.).5‑10 years of functional experience required.1‑3 years of industry experience required.Training prerequisites (within one year of taking position):ESD.Safety training as dictated by the Safety Department.Skills and AbilitiesFormulate resolution plans, solutions, and concise, informational final reports.Analyze technical data packages for new programs with minimal supervision, anticipating and preventing production risks.Participate in small teams for issue resolution.Troubleshoot complex issues with minimal supervision and decompose them into manageable tasks for technicians.Support programs in front of customers with professional appearance and demeanor.Provide presentations when necessary.Maintain willingness to stay abreast of state‑of‑the‑art technical and equipment issues through training and self‑development.Familiarity with basic test equipment (oscilloscopes, voltmeters, signal generators, etc.).Good working knowledge of basic computer applications.BenefitsMost locations offer a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off.Competitive compensation and 401(k) program.Robust medical, dental, vision, and disability coverage with wellness discounts.Basic life insurance and additional life & AD&D insurances available.Flexible vacation and PTO.Paid parental leave.Generous employee referral program.Voluntary benefits: longer‑term care, legal, identity theft, pet insurance, and more.Voluntary Tricare supplement available for military retirees.This job description does not list all duties.
