Role Summary

Vast is looking for a Senior Subcontracts Specialist, Indirect (Software & SaaS Focus) reporting to the Director of Indirect Supply Chain. In this role, you will be a proactive, go-getter responsible for managing high-value, fast-paced software procurement and contractual strategies end-to-end. You will act as a strategic partner to our technology and business teams, ensuring Vast has the robust, scalable software infrastructure needed to design and build human-rated space stations.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Contract Management: Independently draft, redline, and negotiate core terms and conditions for high-complexity software, cloud infrastructure, and SaaS agreements from inception to execution.

  • Supplier Paper Negotiation: Demonstrate deep strategy and contractual agility by confidently leading negotiations on supplier-favorable templates and paper.

  • SaaS Strategy & Optimization: Formulate commodity-specific strategies for enterprise technology, evaluating specific levers to pull (pricing models, usage terms, scalability) to maximize value.

  • Risk & Compliance Management: Evaluate and negotiate critical risk-related terms, specifically focusing on Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), data privacy, and security compliance.

  • Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration: Partner directly with internal engineering, IT, and legal teams to finalize terms while actively managing relationships with various vendor account managers.

  • Proprietary Purchases: Manage specialized sourcing and procurement for proprietary tech assets and niche software solutions required by space station engineering teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong contract management experience with a proven track record of independently redlining, drafting, and negotiating core terms and conditions.

  • Direct experience in procurement, sourcing, or subcontracts within the Technology, SaaS, or Startup sectors (prior aerospace experience is not required; tech industry depth is preferred).

  • Deep understanding of software procurement nuances, including DPAs, software licensing, and negotiating on supplier paper.

  • Associates degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a technology-related discipline.

  • Proven track record of negotiating software and tech contracts exceeding $1 million under tight deadlines.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.

  • Strong strategic presentation skills to communicate contract risk and value to senior leadership.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones.
