The Senior Structural Engineer will evaluate, select, and specify engineered systems or products for a project.Your Key ResponsibilitiesIndependently complete calculations and drawings for small and medium projectsDevelop job‑specific specifications independently for less complex projectsLead junior engineers in complex projectsWork with and coordinate with architectural interiors and other engineering disciplinesIndependently perform Construction Administration duties including completing field observation reports, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change ordersPerform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer softwareCommunicate design issues and solutions with the design team and owner clientsUnderstand industry standard design processes and construction means and methodsWork within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client serviceAssist with development of design standardsYour Capabilities and CredentialsRequisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codesStrong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standardsAbility to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience of architects, engineers, and owner clients effectivelyAbility to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and scheduleStrong organizational skills and ability to work effectively both independently and in team settingsAbility to participate and collaborate in project team settings and to engage in creative and critical thoughtPossess a valid driver's license with a good driving recordEducation and ExperienceMinimum 6 or more years of related experienceBachelor's degree in engineering is required, Master's degree preferredProfessional Engineering license is required, Structural Engineering license is preferredExperience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit)Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite)Experience with industry standard Structural Engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.)Work EnvironmentTypical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Please note, the final agreed‑upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
