Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Weapons Integration Technical Lead to join the team of qualified individuals on our Avionics Organization. This leadership role is located onsite in Melbourne, Florida.

In this role, you will lead an interdisciplinary team applying innovative technologies to design, integrate, and sustain the weapons systems scope for the platform, including Stores Management System (SMS), Weapons Aero and Safe Separation, Suspension and Release Equipment (S&RE), Weapons mechanical integration design and test, and weapons certification artifacts. You will lead and interface with a matrixed, cross sector, geographically dispersed team, providing regular technical and execution status within the IPT and program, and directly to the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Own the weapons system technical baseline and develop/maintain designs from concept through production maturity

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team in the application of weapons integration to an aircraft platform, providing technical direction, execution leadership, and mentoring to other engineers

  • Serve as a key technical interface to program leadership and the customer, including formally presenting technical solutions to senior leadership and customer stakeholders

  • Develop, analyze, mature, and implement requirements, translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications for stores management and related subsystems

  • Manage customer relationships and expectations through continuous engagement to understand and address evolving requirements

  • Identify, analyze, and manage technical risks and opportunities, develop mitigation plans, and track them through closure

  • Collaborate closely with other IPTs and program stakeholders to understand interfaces, dependencies, and impacts on other teams

  • Manage development and general suppliers, including developing and maintaining supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work

  • Provide technical insight and knowledge transfer on internal and external technical solutions to solve complex problems

  • A successful Weapon System Technical Lead has strong leadership skills, understands the scope and downstream impact of the work on other teams, consistently brings concerns, issues, and risks to program and technical leadership, and holds the team to a high level of technical rigor

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of related professional/military Engineering experience; or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related experience; or a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline

  • Experience as a technical lead, IPT lead, or similar engineering leadership role with demonstrated team-building, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with system modeling and requirements management tools (e.g., Cameo), including developing/maturing requirements and tracing requirements through multiple levels

  • Experience developing Stores Management Systems

  • Familiarity with software development/management and software processes

  • Experience in supplier/subcontract management

  • Experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) and with Earned Value Management

  • Working knowledge of integration of weapons sensors and software

  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-1760, Universal Armament Interface (UAI), Common Functional Weapon (CFW), and MIL-STD-1553

  • Experience in hardware/software integration of embedded systems

  • Experience directly managing or leading an engineering team

  • At minimum, an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance Secret level clearance is required to apply and to start the role, with the ability to obtain Top Secret and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the Company to meet its business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS or TS SCI clearance

  • Experience chairing technical review meetings such as requirements reviews, design reviews, and readiness reviews for weapon systems

  • Demonstrated ability to develop a technical baseline and oversee technical activities for a Stores Management System

  • Experience in air-launched weapon/weapon systems development and testing

  • Past work implementing UAI or participating in UAI IPT meetings

  • Familiarity with weapon data link concepts

  • Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tools (Jira and Confluence)

Primary Level Salary Range: $165,500.00 - $249,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate''s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
