    The Opportunity

    We have an opportunity for a Senior Procurement Specialist in our Lake Forest, IL or downtown Chicago, IL location. This role is within our Global Procurement Services Division and focused on our Toxicology, Cardiometabolic & Informatics, and Consumer business units.

    As the Senior Procurement Specialist, you will be expected to develop and support the GMI Program such as managing supplier negotiations, should cost analysis, supplier transfer projects and product value engineering projects. In addition, you will be expected to support the Supply Chain Resilience Program to develop advanced AI assisted analysis of external risks and internal resilience opportunities within all indirect and direct spend disciplines, working closely with Abbott’s Global Procurement team to drive synergies.  You will:

    • Work closely with key stakeholders in both Corporate and Division organizations to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans
    • Be accountable for building and nurturing stakeholder relationships by serving as a business partner, helping identify critical business requirements and providing sourcing and procurement services
    • Leverage market and supplier knowledge to drive lower total cost of ownership
    • Represent Abbott in the industry and community 

    What You'll Work On:

    • Develop mastery of category spend; Drive value and lead savings outcomes
    • Research and evaluate business requirements and suppliers
    • Lead the procurement team in achieving Corporate Sustainability initiatives
    • Develop and execute competitive bidding processes (e.g.  RFPs, RFIs)
    • Lead in-person fact-based contract negotiations
    • Procurement approval of up to $1,000,000
    • Prepare analytical reports and dashboards to influence stakeholders without authority
    • Assess complex problems and proposes practical solutions
    • Perform value analysis on costs and supplier quotes
    • Create and manage project plans, identify resources to support projects, drive multiple projects through complex sourcing processes and ensure end results meet the requirements
    • Support completion of contracts, statement of work and standard operating procedures 
    • Ensure all procurement policies and procedures are aligned with internal stakeholders e.g. Legal, Risk Management, Supply Chain
    • Recommend process improvements to streamline for efficiencies

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree: Engineering, Science, Business, or Financial Degrees
    • 4-6 years of Procurement experience in negotiation, contracting and sourcing
    • Project management, Power BI, data management skills
    • Strong communication and people skills (written and verbal)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • CPM certification desired
    • Lean and/or Six Sigma Certification
    • Master’s degree

    The base pay for this position is

    $78,000.00 – $156,000.00

    In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
