Amazon"s Cross Channel Marketing (XCM) team is seeking a Senior Social Strategist to serve as our internal social media expert across Amazon, Prime, and other flagship brands. This role sits at the intersection of brand strategy and creative development, translating business objectives into breakthrough social strategies that build brand strength and drive customer engagement.

You will be the dedicated social expert working alongside brand strategists, partnering with creative teams, media planners/strategists, and marketing managers to shape how Amazon shows up in social channels. You live and breathe social media, understanding platform dynamics, cultural trends, and customer behavior across SMAs (Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Reddit, etc.). You translate these insights into strategic creative briefs that inspire world-class creative and inform data-driven measurement and optimizations. You also use what"s happening in social media-emerging trends, cultural moments, and customer conversations-to inform both social-first strategies and broader brand strategies.

You will develop social strategies for brand campaigns and tentpole moments like Prime Day and Black Friday, brief internal and external creative teams, and help measure outcomes to optimize future work. You thrive in a small but mighty team that operates at many speeds-moving fast when needed while taking time for deep strategic thinking.

The ideal candidate brings advertising agency and/or social platform experience, combines analytical rigor with creative thinking, and is customer-obsessed. You are comfortable leading cross-functional project teams, influencing stakeholders, and experimenting with new approaches to social media.

Key job responsibilities

Social Strategy Development

  • Develop social media strategies for campaigns spanning brands
  • Translate business objectives and brand strategies into actionable social strategies leveraging platform-specific opportunities
  • Lead social strategy development for tentpole events (e.g., Prime Day) as part of integrated campaigns
  • Identify opportunities to build brand strength through paid and organic social channels

Creative Strategy & Briefing

  • Create strategic creative briefs for internal XCM creative teams and external agency partners
  • Partner with creative teams throughout campaign development to ensure strategic alignment
  • Apply deep understanding of social platforms, customer behavior, and cultural trends to inform creative direction
  • Brief content across all formats

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Serve as the social media expert for brand strategy team, providing platform expertise and insights
  • Partner with dedicated paid social team to align strategy with media planning and execution
  • Collaborate with marketing managers, creatives, media planners, and measurement teams
  • Lead cross-functional project teams to deliver integrated social campaigns

Insights & Measurement

  • Use social listening tools, customer research platforms, and personal experience to mine insights and identify opportunities for engagement
  • Help develop measurement frameworks to evaluate campaign performance and brand impact
  • Analyze outcomes to identify learnings and optimize future strategies
  • Familiarity and interest in AI as a tool
