DescriptionProvidence caregivers are not simply valued – they're invaluable. Join our team at Enterprise Information Services and thrive in our culture of patient‑focused, whole‑person care built on understanding, commitment, and mutual respect. Your voice matters here, because we know that to inspire and retain the best people, we must empower them.Service Engineer OverviewService Engineers ensure caregivers have a fast, reliable, and frustration‑free digital experience by owning and operating our Digital Employee Experience (DEX) platform, powered by Nexthink. In this role, you'll partner with endpoint engineering, service desk, and application teams to design, scale, and run Nexthink as a core enterprise service – turning endpoint telemetry into actionable insights, automation, and measurable outcomes. You'll own the full service lifecycle, from platform architecture and experience scoring to proactive alerting, self‑healing workflows, executive reporting, and cost optimization, while advancing the organization from reactive support to experienced‑driven operations. When issues arise, you're the calm technical leader who uses real‑time endpoint data to quickly identify root cause, restore service, and ensure the fix sticks through durable automation and improved monitoring. As a principal engineer, you'll set technical standards, mentor other engineers, and shape the DEX roadmap – defining what “good” looks like for endpoint experience and translating complex data into business‑level impact. If you thrive at the intersection of endpoint engineering, automation at scale, and caregiver experience, this role was built for you.Remote Work OpportunitiesProvidence offers remote work opportunities for candidates residing within a daily commuting radius – up to 65 miles – from any of our primary office locations listed below.Alaska: AnchorageWestern Washington: Seattle, Redmond, Renton, OlympiaEastern Washington: SpokaneWashington – Clark County: VancouverOregon: PortlandCalifornia – Humboldt County: EurekaNorthern California: Santa Rosa, SonomaSouthern California: Los Angeles, Irvine, AnaheimMontana: MissoulaTexas: LubbockRequired QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience5 years related experience in systems administration (more preferred)Experience in automation, specifically related to deployment, recovery, or other manual processesExperience with n-tier solutionsExperience with resilience modeling (failure mode analysis) and ability to simulate service outages for point solutions (automated) and platforms (manually)Experience influencing software engineering team members in translating customer and technical requirements into service architecture to meet Quality of Service ExpectationsExperience leading and representing the Service in backlog discussions and standupsPreferred QualificationsExperience in a Healthcare environment5 or more years of Information Technology experience1 or more years of experience managing Digital Experience (DEX) platforms, preferably NexthinkStrong Experience administering Windows and macOS management platforms (Intune, Microsoft Configuration Manager, Jamf)Strong Experience with source code version control using Git/GitHubStrong Experience in process automation using Powershell or BashProficiency in Nexthink for endpoint analytics and experience managementStrong PowerShell scripting skills for automation and systems managementHands‑on experience with Microsoft Intune for modern device managementExperience administering Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM)Experience managing macOS devices using Jamf ProExperience leading and representing the Service in backlog discussions and standupsSalary Range by LocationAK: Anchorage – Min: $61.31, Max: $104.39AK: Kodiak, Seward, Valdez – Min: $63.91, Max: $108.82California: Humboldt – Min: $63.91, Max: $108.82California: All Northern California – Min: $71.70, Max: $122.09California: All Southern California – Min: $63.91, Max: $108.82California: Bakersfield – Min: $63.91, Max: $108.82Montana: Except Great Falls – Min: $49.36, Max: $84.05Montana: Great Falls – Min: $46.76, Max: $79.62Oregon: Non‑Portland Service Area – Min: $57.16, Max: $97.32Oregon: Portland Service Area – Min: $61.31, Max: $104.39Texas – Min: $46.76, Max: $79.62Washington – Western (Except Tukwila) – Min: $63.91, Max: $108.82Washington – Southwest (Olympia, Centralia) – Min: $61.31, Max: $104.39Washington – Clark County Washington – Min: $61.31, Max: $104.39Washington – Tukwila – Min: $63.91, Max: $108.82Washington – Eastern – Min: $54.56, Max: $92.89Washington – Southeast – Min: $57.16, Max: $97.32BenefitsProvidence offers a comprehensive benefits package including a retirement 401(k) savings plan with employer matching; health care benefits (medical, dental, vision); life insurance, disability insurance; time‑off benefits (paid parental leave, vacations, holidays, health‑issues); voluntary benefits; and well‑being resources. As the third largest not-for-profit health system in the United States, we are committed to providing for the needs of our communities – especially for those who are poor and vulnerable – across Alaska, California, Montana, Oregon and Washington.
Our system includes more than 82,000 caregivers (all employees) serving in a diverse range of ministries from birth to end of life, including acute care, physician clinics, long-term and assisted living, palliative and hospice care, home health, supportive housing and education.
We operate 34 hospitals, 600 physician clinics, 22 long-term care facilities, 19 hospice and home health programs and 693 supportive housing units in 14 locations. Our health plan serves our caregivers and other large employer groups covering 513,000 members.
On any given day, we care for more than 1,200 people in our long-term care settings, more than 4,000 in our hospitals and more than 15,000 in our clinic settings. Daily, we serve more than 7,000 people in our many home health and palliative care programs and almost 800 in supportive housing. We touch more than five times as many lives in non-acute settings as we do in the traditional hospital setting.
When the Sisters arrived in the Pacific Northwest in 1856, they came to answer a call for help from a new pioneer community. What they found were many communities in need of service, and so with dedication to the Mission and collaboration with like-minded partners, their ministry grew to what is now a five-state health system.
Providence Health & Services continues a tradition of caring that the Sisters of Providence began more than 158 years ago. The cornerstone of our Mission is to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

Our benefits help us care for our employees and their families by supporting their wellness and providing tools that promote financial security and professional growth.*

We are deeply honored that Providence facilities have been distinguished with national awards and certifications. At Providence Health & Services, our dedication to excellence is evident in the service our people demonstrate every day. Here, you’ll find an environment built on the core values of respect, compassion, justice, excellence and stewardship. They are at the heart of everything we do...and others have noticed.
