Senior Scientist/Engineer, Machine Learning / Bioinformatics 

Position Overview:
Moonwalk Biosciences is recruiting a Senior Scientist/Engineer, Machine Learning / Bioinformaticsto join our multidisciplinary R&D team. This individual will play a key role in advancing Moonwalk’s mission to develop first-in-class medicines through the discovery and functional characterization of novel therapeutic targets. As a core member of the computational biology group, you will work closely with experimental scientists and build machine learning systems to support target discovery and preclinical work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop internal “AI co-scientist” tools, connecting LLMs to our proprietary and public datasets to help generate therapeutic hypotheses.
• Work directly with experimental scientists to gather feedback on the tools and use it to guide ongoing development.
• Write clean, maintainable Python code and document your methods clearly so pipelines are robust and reproducible for the broader team.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field   (or M.S. with 3+ years of relevant experience)
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including proficiency in Python.
• A pragmatic mindset: you are motivated by the end goal of advancing therapeutics and enjoy building reliable, useful tools that directly advance our preclinical programs.
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Track record of impactful contributions, including open-source tool development or peer-reviewed publications.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience analyzing genomics or other preclinical biological data.
• Familiarity working with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, or agentic workflows.

Salary Range:  $130,000 to $173,000
