Senior SCADA Engineer
We are seeking a Senior SCADA Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and long-term success of complex SCADA and BMS solutions. This role is ideal for a highly experienced engineer who brings strong technical judgment, architectural thinking, and leadership to high-impact projects.
As a senior member of the team, you will own technical delivery, mentor junior engineers, influence standards, and serve as a trusted technical partner to customers and internal stakeholders.
What You'll Do
Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of SCADA/BMS solutions using Ignition, with an emphasis on scalable architecture and maintainable Perspective user interfaces
Own key technical deliverables, including functional specifications, system architecture diagrams, I/O and tag lists, and test procedures
Define, document, and enforce engineering standards for UDTs, templates, naming conventions, and screen design across projects
Mentor and develop junior engineers through coaching, PR/code reviews, and structured feedback
Diagnose and resolve complex system issues spanning PLCs, field networks, servers, device integrations, and SCADA applications, driving root-cause analysis
Coordinate with customers, vendors, and internal teams to align requirements, manage technical risk, and handle change requests
Contribute technical leadership to backlog grooming, effort estimation, proposals, and scope development
Promote and apply cybersecurity, reliability, and high-availability best practices for OT and SCADA environments
Qualifications
Experience
5-8 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting SCADA systems, with significant exposure to Ignition or similar platforms
Proven experience leading technical workstreams on complex or multi-site SCADA/BMS projects
Strong proficiency in:
PLC programming and industrial communication protocols
Ignition Designer, Perspective, tag providers, and gateway configuration
Industrial networking and OT cybersecurity concepts
Database integration, including queries, historization, and reporting
Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
Ignition Gold Certified required
