Overview

The Senior Recreation Leader assists the Recreation Coordinator Assistant Program Manager and Program Manager by providing supervision and functional support to recreation programs for the Parks and Recreation Department. This position leads the activities of the programs including planning, organizing, and observing recreational activities within the provided programs.

Responsibilities • Provides leadership and promotes shared responsibilities, teamwork, and continuous improvement by assisting the coordinators, supervisors, and program managers in planning, organizing, observing, and directing a variety of recreational activities in recreation program areas. • Drives to Athletics field sites daily for walk-through of playing field or indoor facilities. • Applies First Aid and CPR techniques as needed. • Assists and responds to the public regarding questions, comments, concerns, and alerts supervisors of such actions. • Performs minor maintenance by assisting with facility cleaning up after sports league and special programs events. • Coordinates with the marketing/communications team with making flyers for our programs. • Ensures posters at Athletics sites are shown during events and keeps track of signage to make sure none have been blown away or damaged. • Reviews revenue receipts and verifies deposits, preparing documentation for daily deposits. • Maintains discipline, order, and crowd control at activity sites by maintaining a view of children and surroundings. • Ensures proper ratio of children to staff and addressing discipline in a positive and consistent manner.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

Non-Exempt-Part-Time-15 hours a week Must be available to work additional hours as needed. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement. In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED Six months to one year of experience

Licenses and Certifications Required

A valid drivers license is required. Successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas drivers license within 90 days of hiring. CPR/First Aid Certificate - Must be obtained before hire date

Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests in addition to the panel interview.
