A leading engineering and infrastructure consultancy is seeking a Senior Project Manager with deep expertise in rail systems to support major transit initiatives in the Los Angeles region. This role will provide leadership across complex rail programs, directing systems design, coordination, and delivery in partnership with public agency stakeholders, engineering teams, and specialty contractors.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned rail systems professional with extensive experience in systems integration across signaling, train control, communications, traction power, and related subsystems. This individual will serve as a technical authority and strategic advisor on large, multi-disciplinary transit programs.

Role Overview

  • Direct the technical development and integration of rail systems on high-value transit infrastructure projects, ensuring cohesive and compliant system performance.

  • Oversee coordination among multidisciplinary engineering teams and specialty consultants to drive quality, safety, and schedule adherence.

  • Manage program delivery elements including scope control, cost management, risk mitigation, scheduling, and stakeholder reporting.

  • Work on-site with the transit agency to provide hands-on project leadership and decision support.

  • Contribute to industry engagement through technical forums, standards committees, and professional presentations.

  • Assist with business development initiatives, strategic growth planning, and talent acquisition within the rail systems discipline.

Required Background & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.

  • 20+ years of progressive experience in rail systems engineering, including significant time in leadership or management roles.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale rail programs (>$500M), including both new-build and modernization efforts.

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. transit design standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Prior collaboration with major Southern California transit agencies is advantageous.

  • Comprehensive understanding of systems engineering principles, engineering management practices, and lifecycle project execution within a rail environment.

  • Familiarity with the integration of rail systems with civil infrastructure, stations, trackwork, and operations.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical teams, executive stakeholders, and client representatives.

  • Proven track record of mentoring engineering staff and supporting professional development.
