Compensation: $135,000 - $165,000 / yearDepartment: PropulsionLocation: Boulder CountyDescriptionAs a Senior Propulsion Component Engineer (Fluids) at Impulse, you will own all aspects of component design from concept to product realization, while working closely with a fast‑paced, agile team that strives to make a high‑performance spacecraft from a clean sheet design.ResponsibilitiesDesign propulsion system valves and fluid components including cryogenic, high pressure and high temperature systemsOwn all aspects of component design from initial concepts to product realizationGenerate detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawingsPerform fluid, thermal, and structural analysis as requiredEstablish assembly procedures and work hands‑on with technicians to refine this processDefine and support rigorous component development and qualification testingResolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutionsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering or related field5+ years of demonstrated experience in valve or component designA strong understanding of component design including materials selection, compatibility, seals, wear, and force/torque margin determinationHands‑on experience working with fluid, electrical and mechanical systemsDemonstrated proficiency in CAD software with ability to learn new toolsDemonstrated ability in requirements definition, conceptual design, procurement, fabrication, assembly and testing of hardwarePreferred Skills and ExperienceExperience designing and operating high reliability, high performance hardwareExperience with low leakage, on‑orbit propulsion componentsExperience in a startup or agile development environmentStrong project management skills and effective communication of technical concepts across multi-disciplinary teamsAdditional RequirementsFlexible schedule and willing to travel as neededAdditional InformationCompensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
