Overview
A multi-disciplinary engineering and consulting organization is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of civil engineering projects across federal, commercial, and municipal sectors. This role is responsible for project leadership, client management, business development, and team mentorship, ensuring successful execution across the full project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience managing complex infrastructure and land development projects, with a proven ability to drive profitability, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction.



Core ResponsibilitiesProject Management & Delivery
  • Manage multiple concurrent civil engineering projects from initiation through completion
  • Oversee all project phases, including scope development, feasibility, design, permitting, construction, and closeout
  • Maintain control of project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure profitability
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality engineering design, documentation, and project outcomes
Financial & Performance Management
  • Manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Monitor profitability, resource allocation, and utilization rates
  • Oversee invoicing, billing cycles, and accounts receivable collections
  • Identify and mitigate scope creep and budget risks
Client Management & Business Development
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and strategic partnerships
  • Identify and secure new project opportunities and revenue streams
  • Lead and support proposal development, contract negotiation, and scope definition
  • Represent the organization in client meetings, industry events, and public forums
Engineering Oversight & Technical Coordination
  • Provide oversight of engineering design and technical deliverables
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, and cross-functional teams
  • Coordinate with external consultants and regulatory agencies
  • Support preparation of feasibility studies, cost estimates, and technical reports
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, senior engineers, and junior staff (EITs)
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and hiring decisions
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Support employee retention, training, and career development initiatives
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement
  • Implement and monitor QA/QC processes and engineering standards
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of project documentation and deliverables
  • Improve internal workflows, procedures, and operational efficiency
  • Support enforcement of organizational policies and best practices



Qualifications & ExperienceExperience
  • 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, project management, or consulting services
  • Proven track record managing large-scale or complex engineering projects
  • Experience with federal, commercial, and/or municipal infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated success in client development, business growth, and revenue generation
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
Technical Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering design, site development, and infrastructure projects
  • Experience with project lifecycle management, budgeting, and financial oversight
  • Proficiency in proposal development, contract management, and cost estimation
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (e.G., AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
