The role will initially focus on stormwater management, drainage, civil site development, permitting, and related environmental projects, with additional opportunities to support solid waste assignments involving landfills, landfill gas systems, transfer stations, material recovery facilities, leachate management, and other environmental infrastructure. This is an ideal opportunity for a consultant who can combine technical judgment, project management, client development, financial oversight, and team leadership in a growing employee-owned firm.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead civil, stormwater, environmental, and solid waste projects from initial planning through design, permitting, construction support, certification, and closeout
  • Manage multiple projects while maintaining control of scope, schedule, budget, staffing, quality, contractual requirements, and profitability
  • Develop project work plans, schedules, staffing projections, budgets, and deliverable requirements
  • Coordinate engineers, scientists, technicians, CAD professionals, field personnel, subconsultants, laboratories, surveyors, and contractors
  • Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, labor utilization, invoicing, accounts receivable, and profitability
  • Identify project risks and implement practical strategies to maintain schedule, budget, quality, and regulatory compliance
  • Provide senior technical leadership for stormwater management, drainage, water-quality, civil site-development, and environmental projects
  • Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, drainage studies, stormwater-management plans, construction documents, and permit applications
  • Support projects involving grading, drainage, erosion and sediment control, detention and retention systems, utilities, access roads, and site infrastructure
  • Coordinate stormwater and environmental permitting with local governments, water-management districts, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and other regulatory agencies
  • Evaluate existing drainage systems and develop practical solutions for capacity, flooding, water-quality, and regulatory concerns
  • Apply civil, environmental, geotechnical, or geological engineering expertise to solid waste and environmental infrastructure projects
  • Support planning, design, permitting, construction, and operations for landfills, transfer stations, material recovery facilities, and related infrastructure
  • Assist with landfill cell development, liner systems, final cover systems, closure projects, landfill gas collection systems, stormwater controls, and leachate-management systems
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee field investigations, inspections, surveys, sampling, data collection, and construction-observation activities
  • Review field data, inspection documentation, photographs, testing results, contractor submittals, and construction-certification documentation
  • Prepare and review regulatory reports, permit applications, compliance documents, monitoring reports, technical reports, and engineering certifications
  • Serve as a trusted technical and strategic advisor to public- and private-sector clients
  • Build lasting relationships with municipalities, private developers, solid waste operators, utilities, regulatory agencies, contractors, and industry partners
  • Support business development through proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, presentations, interviews, professional associations, and client events
  • Mentor engineers, scientists, project professionals, CAD designers, technicians, and field personnel while promoting safety, accountability, responsiveness, and technical excellence
