Senior Project Manager – Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Location: San Jose, CA

About the Opportunity: A well-established building automation and controls contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the execution of complex Building Automation System (BAS) projects throughout Northern California. This is a leadership role responsible for managing projects from initial customer engagement through final turnover while supporting engineering, field operations, and project teams.

Projects include commercial campuses, data centers, life sciences, semiconductor facilities, government laboratories, and other mission critical environments, with a focus on both new construction and retrofit work.

Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple BAS projects simultaneously from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, contractors, engineers, and end users.
  • Develop project estimates, proposals, and change orders.
  • Coordinate engineering, field technicians, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, labor utilization, procurement, and overall financial performance.
  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and control sequences to ensure accurate system implementation.
  • Provide technical guidance throughout design, installation, commissioning, and startup.
  • Negotiate subcontract agreements and oversee material purchasing.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to customer expectations.
  • Support billing, forecasting, project reporting, and contract administration.
  • Mentor junior project managers and engineers while promoting collaboration across engineering and field teams.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and continued business growth.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience managing HVAC controls, building automation, or mechanical construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, DDC controls, and BAS design principles.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical plans, specifications, and control drawings.
  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, procurement, and customer communication.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to mentor technical teams.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Automated Logic (ALC) or similar BAS platforms is highly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Experience: Candidates with experience supporting mission critical facilities, data centers, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, healthcare, laboratory, or large commercial projects are especially encouraged to apply.
