Our New Jersey-based client is seeking a Senior Project Engineering Manager to join their Power & Infrastructure team. This is an immediate opportunity to lead high-impact projects delivering cutting-edge power generation and energy solutions across data centers, central utility plants, utilities, and independent power producers.
In this role, you will act as both technical lead and project manager, overseeing the full lifecycle of complex engineering projects. You'll be the primary client interface, responsible for ensuring technical excellence, on-time delivery, and budget adherence.

Lead engineering execution for large-scale energy infrastructure projects
Manage and mentor engineering teams, providing technical guidance and oversight
Ensure quality control through peer reviews and design validation
Oversee project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure successful delivery
Serve as the primary client contact, building strong, long-term relationships
Coordinate across internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders
Support business development efforts, including RFP responses, proposals, and cost estimates
Facilitate project meetings and ensure timely follow-up on deliverables
Ensure accurate project financials, including invoicing and reporting
Represent the organization at industry events and conferences
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with progression into leadership roles
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Strong experience in power infrastructure projects, including:
Utility-scale generation
Central Utility Plants (CUP)
Combined Heat & Power (CHP)
Distributed generation & microgrids
Expertise with equipment such as:
Combustion turbines, internal combustion engines
Boilers, chillers, heat pumps, and cooling systems
Pumps and balance-of-plant systems
Working knowledge of HVAC systems (preferred)
Familiarity with codes, standards, and multidisciplinary coordination (electrical, civil, structural, etc.)
Strong understanding of power plant operations and energy economics
Experience with construction practices, scheduling, and OSHA regulations
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
Excellent communication, leadership, and technical writing skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Salary: $150,000 – $180,000 (based on experience)
