Senior Project EngineerBalfour Beatty Construction seeks a Senior Project Engineer to work on projects with our team in Orange County, CA to support projects in the OC market.Essential FunctionsThe SPE will assist the Project Manager with the planning and daily execution of construction projects, maintain project schedules, manage submittal approvals, coordinate material delivery, and oversee subcontractor compliance.Project Financial ResponsibilitiesAssists project management by proactively managing the project budget, controlling expenses, administering owner and subcontractor billings, identifying work not covered by subcontractor's scope of work/budget, and ensuring successful office support functions related to overall cost and scheduled completion.Preconstruction ServicesEstablish procedures for controlling contract drawings.Initiate set-up of the job management system.Assist with scopes of work, bid package development, and help solicit subcontractors and suppliers.Participate in constructability reviews.Project Start‑up and SchedulingAssist in development of the site utilization plan.Assist Project Manager / Superintendent in review and coordination of Loss Prevention and Quality Control Program.Manage pre‑work subcontractor orientation meetings, ensuring documentation for each subcontractor including material deliveries, site‑specific safety and quality control issues.Manage submittal log and coordinate submittals and coordination drawings with subcontractors and Superintendent.Project Administration, Coordination and Close‑outProactively administer review and processing of all submittal data and shop drawings to expedite schedules and ensure materials delivery on time.Conduct preconstruction meetings with subcontractors, assisted by the Project Manager and/or Superintendent.Serve as onsite quality manager for assigned trades by verifying subcontractor deliveries meet approved submittal requirements.Attend and participate in meetings with architect/engineer and owner representatives, providing information and assisting Project Manager in preparation of progress reports and meeting minutes.Distribute proposal change documents to subcontractors/suppliers and assist in collecting pricing, preparing change proposal requests for internal pricing review.Ensure all clarifications, changes, directives, RFIs, etc., are updated on as‑built drawings and fully coordinated with company supervision and all subcontractors/suppliers.Submit owner‑required close‑out documents and assist subcontractors/suppliers in scheduling owner‑required training and documentation.Promote Customer RelationsBuild effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups reflecting company core values and exceeding customer expectations.Actively participate in industry, client, and community relations to enhance company image.Culture, Leadership and Employee DevelopmentPromote company Creed, communicate vision and purpose through Service, Talent, and Choices.Serve as a role model and promote professional behavior.Participate in personal career development through on‑the‑job training, attend operations classroom training programs and assist in development of the Project Engineer.Perform other related duties as neededAs required by the organization.Education, Experience and KnowledgeB.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field with 2 to 4 years of experience preferred, or 5 to 6 years of progressive construction‑related trade experience.Demonstrates leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, direct others, and effectively address conflict.Creates, manages, and/or revises schedules and related assignments based on key priorities of assigned projects.Organizes people, tools, and equipment, and plans/manages multiple activities to achieve desired results.Makes decisions under tight deadlines, sometimes with incomplete information.Exhibits commitment to quality by evaluating project‑related processes and implementing necessary changes, using customer input to make improvements.Acts with integrity, supporting company values and maintaining focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements.Proficient in personal computer, email, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).Salary and CompensationThe base compensation range for the Senior Project Engineer in Santa Ana, CA is $95,000 to $110,000 annually.
