This position entails providing workable solutions, designing plumbing systems for buildings from the design phase through the construction administration phase as needed. The Senior Plumbing Engineer will represent CMTA in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign plumbing systems, including domestic water systems, sanitary drainage and vent systems, storm drainage systems, pumping systems, natural gas distribution systems, and special fire suppression systems, including clean agent (gaseous) systemsPerform plumbing system selections, prepare preliminary designs, and create performance specificationsConsult on areas such as the preparation of existing facility diligence, sustainability analyses, and feasibility reportsReading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematicsAttending meetings with owners, clients, and architectsReviewing contractor submittals and shop drawings to determine conformance with contract documents and applicable CodesEvaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and calculations to perform equipment research, piping layout, and pipe sizingIncorporate design changes using AutoCAD and RevitPerform design calculations; design plumbing systems to the requirements of individual state and local municipality codesProduce documentation consistent with client requirements and standards specific to each projectDesired Skills and ExperienceBachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) preferredCertified Plumbing Designer (CPD) preferred4+ years of experience in plumbing designKnowledge of building codes and standards, drafting standards, plumbing engineering standards, and other tradesKnowledge of the various applications of plumbing systemsStrong understanding of the construction process and interpretation of construction drawingsAutoCAD and REVIT proficiencyPeople are at the heart of what we do.
