Are you a builder who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment? Do you enjoy working cross-functionally to improve experiences for customers? The Worldwide Grocery Stores (WWGS) Under the Roof (UTR) Product team, which designs and builds tools that enable seamless in-store operations and exceptional customer service, is looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our team. This role will own a core UTR product for which they own developing vision and collaborating with partners to drive the implementation. Our team serves as the voice of the customer and associate as we advocate for a bar-raising CX through improved product experiences.

A successful candidate thinks big by defining the long-term vision for their space, dives deep to understand customer and associate pain-points and delivers results by building and executing against a roadmap of features in partnership with Tech, Program and Operations Teams.

As a Senior Product Manager, you will work across leadership and cross-functional teams to define the vision and execution strategy for your product for stakeholders across all WWGS banners. The role will focus heavily on scalability, efficiency, and operational excellence at a team and business level. You will deep dive both the shopper dynamics as well as the tech launch life-cycle to drive improvements that are required to build a best in class in-store CX. You will play a key role in defining the metrics, setting goals, and reporting out on progress. You are the owner for business roadmap and define the product direction for WWGS. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to make a positive large scale impact in the physical retail sector across a variety of formats. Customer obsession is taken to a whole new level in this role, as the product you build directly impacts the success of each and every store opening from a category & tech perspective. You do not compromise quality, obsess over detail, have deep backbone and drive improvements to ensure each and every product launch is a success.

The ideal candidate will have strong customer experience intuition, business and product sense combined with solid understanding of technical concepts. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. High judgment, ability to influence, analytical talent, exceptional communications, and leadership are essential to success in this role. Must have previous experience working with point of sale systems and/or payments.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain Food Production products across the WWGS network.
  • Identify and implement product improvements and opportunities for innovation and simplification.
  • Act as the 'business owner', possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact our business.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external teams, while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed goals.
  • Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats, and be excited to join an ambitious team.

So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
