Senior Process Instrumentation Field Specialist — Chandler, AZ

Imagine starting your week in Chandler, AZ, loading a fully outfitted company truck, then heading to a power plant where you’ll diagnose a misbehaving temperature transmitter before designing a custom bracket for a motor-operated valve retrofit. By midweek, you’re calibrating level, pressure, and temperature transmitters, confirming MOV diagnostics, and training operators on best practices. Some weeks, the road calls—you’ll travel across AZ, CA, HI, and NV, spending extended stretches at customer facilities to get critical systems online and running right.

What you’ll tackle

  • New installs, retrofits, and repairs for pressure, temperature, and differential transmitters and broader process instrumentation—on-site or in our shop.
  • Hands-on calibration of field instruments: level, pressure, and temperature transmitters.
  • Troubleshooting of process control equipment including motor-operated valves, field measurement devices, and final control elements.
  • MOV diagnostics, field measurements, and hardware design for actuator-to-valve mounting.
  • Designing brackets and couplings to integrate valves and electric/pneumatic/hydraulic actuators.
  • Customer-facing work: promote service agreements, deliver training, and collaborate to resolve complex issues.

What sets you up for success

  • 5+ years as a field service/instrumentation technician or equivalent electro-mechanical experience—preferably in power generation.
  • Expert-level calibration skills for level, pressure, and temperature transmitters.
  • Working command of process controls and instrumentation.
  • Electrical fluency: interpret single- and three-phase diagrams (AC/DC) and diagnose faults quickly.
  • Deep knowledge of electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic valve actuators.
  • Clean, valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain an excellent driving record.

Schedule, travel, and environment

  • Typical week: Monday–Friday, 8–10 hours/day plus travel.
  • Expect 5–10 hours/week of overtime; start/finish times can vary.
  • Travel about 75% within AZ, CA, HI, and NV; assignments may keep you away from home for weeks at a time.
  • Work sites are loud; indoors and outdoors; hot summers and cold winters.
  • Physical demands: confined spaces, elevated platforms, and lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying up to 50 lbs; exposure to extreme heat and cold.

Compensation

Hourly pay target: $35.00–$40.00. Actual base pay will reflect internal equity and may vary by region, skills, qualifications, experience, and role requirements.
