This position will be a technical resource to capital project teams, supporting portions of the process design within large capital projects providing solutions, which add value through improvement in work process, unit operations, operating conditions, or process technology. This position requires working as a team player needing minimal supervision. This position requires a solid understanding of process design technical fundamentals and LDC Project Management Process, process work process and its interdependencies with other disciplines, demonstrating leadership and delivering engineering expertise to the execution of LDC's capital projects.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Ensures that the project scope is well defined and meets the business needs in a cost-effective manner.
Provides overall planning/scheduling for discipline and monitors/maintains progress against the plan.
Directs the activities of the process design members of the project team and coordinates activities with other disciplines.
Ensures process design deliverables meet the needs of the project as intended, on time and within budget.
Ensures that the process design is safe, meets LDC's SHE requirements.
Identifies technical problems and appropriately engages project management, commercial and business development, and technical experts to resolve.
Possesses strong technical knowledge and leverages technical know-how and implements best practice applications by providing technical coaching, consulting and support for others within the project team, site and region.
Demonstrates leadership skills, including negotiation skills, assertiveness, flexible and adaptable to changing business needs.
Coordinates the process engineering activities of the project and will direct and administer with external contractors/suppliers as required.
Participate in Process Safety, 3D Model and Design Reviews such as:
PRA/PHA/HAZOP
Control narratives
Cause and Effect documents
Electrical Area Classification
Coordinate the development of scope of work, heat and material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, process descriptions, equipment list, operations training and procedures.
Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures and schedules including the coordination of all pre-commissioning and commissioning activities while ensuring systems and components are installed, tested and operational according to the project specifications.
Validate the projects technical and CAPEX budget assumptions as put together by the Business Development team, during the due diligence for the acquisition of an asset or during the evaluation of a project before its validation by the Resource Committee, within the company's standards.
Review the company deliverables and makes sure that conceptual design, front end engineering and detailed engineering studies including the projects criteria are achievable in the set forth timeline.
