Provides technical and sustaining engineering support for the Centers of Excellence (COEs) for Electromechanical Assembly and Capital Equipment Assembly.
Recommends equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques as well as production yields for existing products.
Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications and technology target specifications.
Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules.
Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.
May develop and conduct statistical analysis or recommend additions to document work.
Leads the innovation, development and/or optimization of new manufacturing technology concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations.
This can include scouting and feasibility work, material selection, process and equipment selection, tooling / fixture and equipment installation and assessment of inputs, outputs and alignment to requirements.
Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques including the measurement systems.
Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
Leads the Centers of Excellence (COEs) for Electromechanical Assembly and Capital Equipment Assembly
Establishes Best in Class Equipment Standards for equipment utilized within the Electromechanical Assembly and Capital Equipment Assembly manufacturing spaces
Establishes and maintains relationships with Operating Units (OUs) and R&D organizations utilizing the COE technologies and processes to understand their long-term manufacturing technology needs for Operating Units (OUs) and R&D organizations
Establishes and maintains relationships with manufacturing sites utilizing the COE technologies and processes to understand their current challenges and future needs
Identifies and evaluates emerging manufacturing technologies by partnering with R&D, manufacturing sites, and external ecosystems (vendors, academia, and industry partners), and maintain a prioritized roadmap for feasibility and deployment
Works with Technology Development partners to do rapid, fail-fast feasibility testing of new technologies in a laboratory environment, driving transition into manufacturing sites and new product introductions
Defines and maintains enterprise-wide manufacturing strategies for Electromechanical and Capital Equipment Assembly, informing network design decisions on technologies, site capabilities, and future needs
MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)
10+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 8+ years of experience with an advanced degree
NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)
Strongly Preferred:
Previous Medtronic experience
Experience in manufacturing assembly techniques, including ultrasonic and laser welding, automation/controls engineering, box builds, and functional testing along with knowledge of electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection
Experience across manual, semi-automated, and fully automated manufacturing environments
Proven ability to define 5–10 year technology roadmaps
Experience collaborating with international teams
Ability to lead through influence without direct authority
Strong strategic thinking skills
Self-motivated; works effectively both independently and in teams
Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to build credibility and relationships with senior stakeholders
Proficient in Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources to identify opportunities and shape long-term roadmaps
Travel: 0-25%

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$152,800.00 - $229,200.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
