Job Title: Hardware Power Electronics Engineer

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Hardware Power Electronics Engineer to join our development team and contribute to the expansion of our product offerings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong in IGBT, Silicon Carbide MOSFET, and GaN power conversion design.

Responsibilities

  • Develop next-generation power electronics for solar, energy storage, EV charging, and test applications using SiC and GaN MOSFETs.
  • Engage in the development of high-frequency bidirectional DC-DC converters, AC-DC grid-tie inverters, and resonant converters.
  • Lead the development process from concept to productization.
  • Create innovative digital control algorithms and magnetic components.
  • Collaborate closely with PCB layout designers to implement high-density power designs.
  • Work with mechanical designers to develop product designs, including sheet metal, heatsinks, and bus bars.
  • Achieve UL & CE compliance for various products.
  • Lead EMC compliance activities.
  • Demonstrate an intense focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Assist team members in achieving project level budgets on assigned projects.
  • Foster open communication among all technical and business functions, including sales, operations, and quality organizations.
  • Participate in an environment of continuous learning, driving standardization, and ensuring high-quality design with a focus on manufacturability.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations, and maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong in power electronics design.
  • Solid understanding of basic physics and electronics.
  • Proficient in high-frequency power stages, filtering, circuit protection, thermal, and EMI/EMC considerations.
  • Strong Matlab / Simulink / Sim-power Systems skills.
  • Experience in the product development process.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience with power electronics and control systems design.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening) and the ability to collaborate effectively both internally and externally.
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task and work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Strong process orientation/discipline and demonstrated application of problem-solving tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in power electronics with more than 5 years of industry experience in power converter development.
  • 5 years of experience in design, testing, and debugging of DC-DC or 3-phase AC-DC converters with voltage ranges 400-900V and power levels > 2kW.
  • Experience in design and selection of power semiconductor parts, cooling mechanisms, passive components, protection circuits, and sensing circuits.
  • Understanding of PCB layout design for high voltages.
  • Familiarity with UL1741 standards and typical Safety/EMI standards for power converter systems.
  • Familiarity with EMC requirements and filter design.
  • Understanding of hardware-mechanical and hardware-software interfaces.
  • Understanding of fundamental analytical equations of high-frequency inductor and transformer design.
  • Experience in communication and coordination with multiple vendors and teams.
