The Research and Administrative Facilities (RAF) department manages the operations and maintenance of research and administrative buildings, including both the Bastrop and Smithville campuses. The RAF team also includes parking and transportation, audio visual and event operations, as well as the exterior site operations, all of which support all the Houston campuses and properties.

Ideal candidate will have a Master Plumber license, a Med Gas Piping Installation in the State of Texas, Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester in the State of Texas, someone with 5-years of plumbing experience, strong leadership skills, train, building maintenance skills, scope work and excellent customer service skills.

SUMMARY
The purpose of a Senior Plumber position is to act as a subject matter expert and to provide journeyman level skilled plumbing work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of plumbing components and systems (including domestic water, steam, natural gas, sewer, compressed air, vacuum, medical gases, and other utility systems). Scope impacts institutional plumbing systems and equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Interprets and works from instructions, blueprints, sketches and diagrams in the installation of plumbing systems. Estimates cost of work, requisitions material and maintains inventories. Performs a variety of plumbing work incidental to the installation and repair of air conditioning, refrigeration and other building systems. Coordinates and prioritizes the workflow of plumbers, technicians and mechanics. Investigates outages. Participates in the development of the "Owners Design Guidelines", project design phases and review processes. Inspects contracted plumbing work to ensure repairs and installations are compliant. Functions as a point of contact for vendors. Prepares and submits reports. Participates in process improvement initiatives. May precept staff.

Maintain Facility appearance, Functionality and Safety \u2022Provide clients with material and labor cost estimates for repairs/installation of plumbing systems. \u2022Respond to all critical alarms. \u2022Repairs and performs maintenance of sterilizers, glassware ovens, washers and all other special equipment \u2022Requisitions materials and maintains inventory. \u2022Understands the use of threading machines, ratchets, and all hand and shop tools of the trade. \u2022Connects and maintains water units. \u2022Installs, maintains, and repairs water, air, gas, sewer, and steam lines and systems.
Reduce Outside Contractor Costs \u2022Oversee certifications and deliveries on all medical gases for Main Campus facilities by maintaining system reports for usage, leaks repairs PM's purity analysis and regulatory compliance. \u2022Review work performed by outside contractors for quality. Respond to all critical alarms.
Other Duties as assigned \u2022Investigates utility outage requests and submits thorough and timely shop responses. \u2022Acts as a "point person" for utility outages as assigned. \u2022Communicates the need for follow up investigations/shop responses from other crafts/departments as required. \u2022Communicates with supervisors and personnel of other crafts and shifts as required to ensure proper staffing and necessary procedures are in place for the duration of each outage. \u2022Performs inspections on behalf of the plumbing group of work done by contractors. Reports findings to the project manager. \u2022 Provide lead support to the Utilities Operations Superintendent and/or Supervisor, Physical Plant's Superintendent in their absence.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Six years of post-journeyman plumbing experience. All of the following: Licensed as a Journeyman Plumber in the State of Texas Medical Gas Piping Installation Endorsement by the State of Texas Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
Preferred: Master Plumber License.
