Summary:
Join ADT's engineering team to help build the next-generation monitoring platform designed to support Life Safety events and serve as the backbone of ADT Monitoring. As a Product Engineer, you will develop, test, deploy, and support Java Spring Boot services running in Docker and Kubernetes environments. You will contribute to event-driven platform capabilities that support signal ingestion, event processing, monitoring workflows, agent experiences, operational reliability, and secure delivery of mission-critical services. This role is ideal for engineers who have foundational professional software development experience and want to grow into building highly available, scalable, and resilient systems that directly support customer safety, monitoring center operations, and ADT's future monitoring ecosystem.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Software Development
Develop and maintain backend services and platform capabilities for the monitoring platform.
Build Java Spring Boot services that support Life Safety event processing, monitoring workflows, APIs, and operational platform functions.
Participate in the design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support of new capabilities.
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and well-documented code aligned with team engineering standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve software defects across service, API, integration, and runtime layers.
Backend and Event-Driven Platform Development
Contribute to microservices and APIs developed using Java and Spring Boot.
Support event-driven and asynchronous processing workflows used for signal intake, transformation, event creation, downstream actions, and monitoring operations.
Assist with REST API implementation, integration work, and service-to-service communication patterns.
Use object-oriented design, software design patterns, and engineering best practices to build reliable platform services.
Containerization, Kubernetes, and Cloud-Native Engineering
Build and support containerized services using Docker.
Deploy and operate services in Kubernetes-based environments with guidance from senior engineers, platform engineering, and DevOps teams.
Assist with configuration, environment management, deployment validation, and operational readiness activities.
Support scalable and resilient service patterns for mission-critical monitoring workloads.
Data, Integration, and Monitoring Workflows
Support data models and persistence patterns.
Participate in integration efforts with monitoring systems, agent-facing workflows, internal services, and downstream operational systems.
Help validate that Life Safety events are processed accurately, consistently, and with the reliability expected of ADT Monitoring.
Support observability practices including logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and operational dashboards.
Quality, Security, and Collaboration
Write unit, integration, and service-level tests for all platform capabilities.
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, release readiness reviews, and team technical discussions.
Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, DevOps, QA, Security, SRE, Monitoring Operations, and other engineering teams.
Support secure coding practices, operational controls, and compliance-aware engineering for safety and monitoring environments.
Continuously learn new technologies, tools, and engineering practices.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
