Description

The Senior Payroll Accountant reports to the Associate Vice President for Fiscal Affairs and is responsible for reviewing source documents for completeness and accuracy, making all necessary entries into the payroll system for incentives/promotions, docks, overtime, and other payments and adjustments. Key applicable overtime hours and apply compensation per the Department of Human Resources Management policies and procedures. Manage pre-tax deductions controlled by the University, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Prepare payment vouchers for all payroll related bills (insurances, taxes, third party payment, etc.). Review all tax reports (quarterly, annually, etc.) for accuracy and approve submission through Paycom. Assist in the preparation of external reports. Develop procedures for performing monthly audits, ensuring the accuracy of employee pay records. Manage compliance with federal, state and university laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Coordinate payroll related activities with third party administrator for insurance and annuity deduction and the third-party administrator for short term disability payments. Prepare information for Social Security Commission for employees. Reconcile deduction liabilities and accrue payroll monthly. Assist with the fiscal year-end audit and perform other projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration. The successful candidate must have a minimum of three years' work experience in payroll. Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, the payroll module in Paycom, and Microsoft Office. Considerable skills in using Paycom, Microsoft Office, ten-key and other office equipment. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus; detail oriented and organized in work; ability to meet assigned deadlines. Experience processing payroll through Paycom is a plus.
