Senior Palo Alto Cloud Security Engineer

SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Senior Palo Alto Cloud Security Engineer for a hybrid opportunity for candidates in Columbia, SC. The candidate will design, implement, and support secure cloud infrastructure solutions across AWS and Azure while serving as a hands-on technical expert for enterprise cloud security initiatives. This role partners with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, highly available, and zero-trust network security solutions using industry-leading technologies.

Required Qualifications of the Senior Palo Alto Cloud Security Engineer:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or 10+ years of equivalent experience as a Palo Alto Cloud Engineer.
• 10+ years of experience in network security engineering.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, troubleshooting, and optimizing Palo Alto VM-Series firewalls in AWS and Azure environments.
• Experience managing Palo Alto Panorama, security policy development, threat prevention, and log analysis.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing zero-trust cloud security architectures.
• 5+ years of experience deploying, configuring, and supporting F5 BIG-IP LTM solutions.
• Current Palo Alto, AWS, or Microsoft Azure certification.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure in both public and hybrid cloud environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical teams.

Preferred Skills/Experience of the Senior Palo Alto Cloud Security Engineer:

• PCNSA or PCNSE certification.
• Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect (SC-100) certification.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
• Experience with Prisma Cloud, Infoblox DDI, Cisco Umbrella, Forescout, or OPSWAT MetaDefender.
• Knowledge of F5 ASM and iRules.
• Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as NIST, HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOX, CMMC, and CUI.
• Experience supporting highly regulated or public sector environments.

Responsibilities of the Senior Palo Alto Cloud Security Engineer:

• Design and implement secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain Palo Alto VM-Series firewalls and F5 BIG-IP solutions in cloud environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network security and infrastructure issues across development, testing, and production environments.
• Develop and maintain cloud security policies, monitoring, logging, and compliance controls.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, networking, and security teams to deliver secure cloud solutions.
• Implement and support zero-trust security strategies while actively participating in hands-on solution delivery.

Work Location Hybrid schedule consisting of 2 days onsite and 3 days remote in Columbia, SC.
