Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and technical execution of mining-related projects involving piping networks, HVAC installations, bulk material handling equipment, and crushing systems.
  • Produce engineering designs and technical solutions for heavy industrial facilities across all project phases, from initial planning through detailed design.
  • Develop and evaluate mechanical systems, equipment layouts, and supporting infrastructure to meet operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Execute mechanical engineering activities for standalone and multidisciplinary projects, including design development, technical review, and coordination of deliverables.
  • Prepare and review equipment specifications, material selections, technical bid documents, and vendor submissions.
  • Define project design requirements and engineering criteria and verify compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee the work of engineering designers, drafters, and other technical personnel involved in project execution.
  • Coordinate mechanical design activities with other engineering disciplines to ensure integration and consistency of project deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress to support adherence to approved scope, schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.
  • Review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, design documentation, equipment specifications, and operating procedures.
  • Perform design basis development, conceptual engineering, front-end engineering, and detailed design activities.
  • Evaluate design packages for constructability, code compliance, technical suitability, and cost-effective implementation.
  • Interface with project participants, suppliers, contractors, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and support project execution.
  • Support engineering change management by evaluating and documenting modifications affecting scope, budget, schedules, or material quantities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of mechanical engineering experience supporting mining or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Experience designing and analyzing piping systems, HVAC systems, crushing circuits, and material handling equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of process and mechanical design principles focused on operational efficiency, equipment reliability, safety, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
  • Proficiency in material selection and stress analysis for piping systems, platework, and related mechanical components.
  • Ability to prepare, interpret, and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Working knowledge of industrial piping design standards, process diagrams, and engineering graphical symbols.
  • Experience supervising or coordinating the work of designers, drafters, and technical personnel within engineering project environments.
  • Familiarity with mechanical integrity programs and industry standards, including API, ASME, MSS, ASTM, and related codes.
  • Experience using engineering modeling and analysis software for system design, evaluation, and optimization.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to satisfy applicable pre-employment screening requirements.
