Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Houston, TX
Pay Rate: $47/hour

A-Line Staffing is now hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Houston, TX . This is a strong opportunity for an experienced engineering professional with a background in mechanical systems design , ideally within the oil and gas industry . This role offers long-term potential, including the possibility of extension and full-time conversion .


Position Summary

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing and supporting fluid sub-system designs and structural package/skid designs for complex engineering applications. This role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on design experience, and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, designers, and suppliers to deliver high-quality solutions on schedule.


Schedule
  • Full-time assignment
  • Shift start: 7:30 AM
  • Potential for extension beyond 13 weeks
  • Potential for full-time conversion

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop fluid sub-system designs involving:
    • Gas and liquid fuel systems
    • Lube oil systems
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Water injection systems
    • Cooling systems
    • Air systems including inlet filtration, ventilation, exhaust, and silencers
  • Design structural package and skid systems including base plates and sub-skids
  • Apply industry codes, certification requirements, and standards across various regions and countries, including:
    • API
    • PED
    • CSA
    • ASME
    • ATEX
    • NACE
    • ISO 21789
  • Partner with engineers and suppliers to create designs for fluid accessory components such as:
    • Pumps
    • Valves
    • Heat exchangers
    • Instrumentation
  • Review customer and fleet data to support redesign efforts that improve reliability and performance
  • Deliver engineering documentation including:
    • P&IDs
    • General arrangement drawings
    • Assembly drawings
    • Redline markups
    • Work instructions and work packs
    • Demolition and construction instructions
    • API data sheets
    • Component and equipment data sheets
  • Perform engineering calculations such as:
    • Pressure drop calculations
    • Valve selection
    • Pump and motor sizing
    • Pressure vessel selection
    • Stress analysis
  • Collaborate with designers and drafters on detailed designs such as pipe assemblies, supports, and air duct assemblies
  • Deliver requirements, risk reviews, designs, drawings, and bills of material on time
  • Participate in design reviews and work closely with capability leads
  • Manage multiple projects while contributing as a strong team player

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 10+ years of professional experience designing mechanical systems
  • Prior experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards
  • Proven ability to support complex design and documentation efforts
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment

Travel
  • Must be available to travel 8–10%
  • Travel may include domestic and international trips
