We are expanding our engineering organization and actively searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. The candidate will bring strong foundational skills and a passion for solving hard problems.At RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, we value safety, trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, and innovation.ResponsibilitiesDesignDevelop innovative technical solutions across the product lifecycle, including proposal, advanced development, design, manufacturing, integration, and testing of missiles, launchers, and support equipment for military programs.Perform mechanical design analyses to ensure form, fit, and function meet intended application.Lead small teams using experience in mechanical hardware design, structures, thermal, harness and interconnects, electronics packaging, tooling, and integration.Provide support for product assembly and integration in factories and suppliers at domestic and international locations to assess requirement compliance.Team CommunicationLead a mechanical engineering team and collaborate with cross‑functional teams including engineering disciplines, operations, supply chain, quality, and external suppliers.Manage tasks independently and deliver on schedule, budget, and technical goals.Participate in design reviews and conduct trade studies to support informed engineering decisions.Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.Qualifications You Must HaveDegree in STEM and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and at least 3 years of experience.Experience in creating, reviewing, and interpreting technical documentation used in hardware or tooling development.Experience in mechanical design, advanced development, manufacturing, or tooling processes.Experience in developing, releasing, or updating engineering drawings using a 3D CAD design tool.Preferred QualificationsDetail‑oriented and effective cross‑functional teamwork.Ability to work autonomously and lead engineering teams with minimal supervision.Experience creating technical data packages using GD&T and change‑notice processing.Experience with CREO CAD or similar 3D solid modeling tools within a configuration and data‑management environment.Factory support experience and development of low‑rate and full‑rate production hardware.Experience in design, fabrication, or integration of effectors and launchers, including harnesses, energetics, propulsion, and electronics packaging.Knowledge of industry specifications used to create technical data packages.Willingness to travel to suppliers and factories domestically and internationally.Advanced degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering, or hardware systems design.Security ClearanceActive, transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance (DoD Secret) is required before the start date.
