Senior Material Cost Analyst
Pay: $48–$51/hour
Location: Near Schenectady, NY
Employment Type: Full-time, Contract

Numbers tell a story, and in this role, you're the one making sure that story is accurate, timely, and useful to the people making decisions. Our client is hiring a Senior Material Cost Analyst who can dig into raw material costs, spot the trends before they become problems, and turn spreadsheets full of data into insights their operations and supply chain teams can actually act on.

Why This Role Matters

Every delay or cost overrun that hits a customer often traces back to a number that wasn't tracked closely enough. You'll be the safeguard against that — analyzing material cost data, keeping our financial reporting sharp, and supporting the annual operating plan along with the forecasts and estimates that keep the business moving forward.

What You'll Own

  • Own the planning and execution side of material cost analysis, start to finish
  • Dig into raw material purchase data, keeping the numbers accurate and well-controlled
  • Act as a go-to advisor for operations and business unit finance teams on all things material cost, spotting opportunities for process improvements along the way
  • Turn around clean, reliable financial reports for operations, supply chain, business units, and sector stakeholders, while keeping everything aligned with U.S. GAAP and internal policy
  • Track monthly inflation trends and variances against standard costs, and report out on logistics cost performance
  • Take point on the material cost budgeting cycle, quarterly forecasts, and one-off estimates as they come up
  • Rework and improve how raw material costs get tracked and reported, partnering with the right stakeholders to get projects across the finish line
  • Review and sign off on select transactions per company policy, working closely with finance, procurement, and business unit leadership

What You Bring to the Table

  • A CA or MBA in finance, accounting, business, or a related field
  • 4-5 years climbing the ranks in finance — as a Finance Analyst, Cost Analyst, Operations Analyst, or something similar
  • A sharp, strategic way of thinking through problems
  • Real chops in material cost planning, financial analysis, and budgeting
  • The communication skills to make complex numbers make sense to non-finance folks
  • Comfort working across time zones with teams scattered around the globe
  • Fluent English, no exceptions

Nice-to-Haves

  • Hands-on time in SAP or Business Warehouse
  • Excel wizardry — pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, dynamic charts, the works — plus solid PowerPoint chops
  • A working knowledge of accounting controls and standards, including Sarbanes-Oxley and core U.S. GAAP principles like revenue recognition and historical cost
