OverviewAmazon is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to help concept, design, and scale assembly operations at a prototyping facility. You will design processes, commission equipment, and scale best practices.Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with product design teams to incorporate DFM/DFA considerations, advocate for the simplest and most reliable assembly processes, and iterate rapidly.Develop and prove out assembly methods—including joining, fastening, adhesive bonding, press‑fits, human‑assisted automation, and robotic assembly—for complex electromechanical products.Drive PFMEA considerations upstream in product development.Drive manufacturing line concept, design, requirements, sizing/balancing/timing, material flow, vendor selection, equipment specification, automation strategy, installation, and commissioning.Define line requirements including layout, work content, cycle times, rates, and headcount.Support detailed design of assembly equipment and fixturing; develop equipment specifications; identify vendors and manage the RFQ, selection, FAT, and deployment process.Engage with equipment OEMs, tooling suppliers, automation integrators, and key production partners.Drive project scope from concept through production launch.Drive production readiness and operational performance, including safety, quality, throughput, and scrap reduction.Identify opportunities to densify, reduce non‑value‑add operations, and drive significant improvements from one build iteration to the next.Develop and standardize assembly processes, control plans, maintenance strategies, and operational documentation.Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and data‑driven problem‑solving to drive continuous improvement.Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence, safety, and operational discipline.Basic QualificationsExperience in vendor management or facilities management.Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.7+ years of direct manufacturing engineering experience in high‑volume assembly environments for complex electromechanical products.Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and ramp‑up of integrated assembly operations.Strong knowledge of assembly methods including mechanical joining, fastening, adhesive bonding, press‑fits, human‑assisted automation, and robotic assembly.Track record of driving down manufacturing costs while maintaining or improving product quality.Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt preferred).Ability to work effectively across cross‑functional teams in fast‑paced, high‑ambiguity environments.Preferred QualificationsExperience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.Experience with the project management of technical projects.Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or an equivalent discipline.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Base salary: $137,300.00 – $185,700.00 USD per year.
