Summary

Position Highlights:

The Senior Managing Editor is responsible for creating and implementing the overall strategic direction of Moffitt publications that support the strategic plan, goals, objectives and communications strategies of the cancer center and also drive institutional visibility to local, state and national audiences. Collaborate with key Moffitt stakeholders, including CEO Office, EVPs, department leaders, etc in identifying opportunities to develop content strategy that proactively advances and promotes the cancer center and its specific programs. Advanced knowledge of publications, graphic design and production, along with excellent writing and editing skills are required.

Credential and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Mass Communications, Journalism, or Business required.
  • Minimum of Six (6) years experience in managing publications, public relations, journalism/mass communications, publishing or writing, inclusive of four (4) years of outstanding writing and editing skills and the ability to build relationships and collaborate with team members at all levels of the organization, five (5) years of experience developing publication strategies that include digital/online components and five (5) years of experience in health care and/or public relations agency and/or journalism.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop publications strategy and manage the production of publications.
  • Assign and direct the work of the Medical/Science Writer and outside vendors including freelance writers, designers, photographers and proofreaders.
  • Manage the production of publications, including Momentum, the Annual Report and Women In Oncology.
  • Contribute content to Moffitt's brand journalism efforts.
  • Create publication content and artwork that reflect the cancer center's commitment to ensuring access to all.
