    Description

    Position SummaryThe Sr. Quality Assurance Manager leads all laboratory and product certification operations, ensuring full compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, ISO/IEC 17025, FAA 14 CFR 145, EASA, CAAC, and other regulatory requirements. This role oversees metrology, calibration systems, and laboratory testing/ inspection, while driving technical excellence, audit readiness, and continuous improvement. This position also has management responsibility of certified personnel and Return to Service personnel who issue Certificates of Conformance (CoCs) and FAA Form 8130-3 Authorized Release Certificates respectively.

    Key ResponsibilitiesQuality, Compliance, & Procedures

    Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, FAA 14 CFR 145, customer, and other regulatory requirements.Achieve ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and ensure compliance with the standard.Develop, review, and maintain laboratory procedures, work instructions, and test methods.Maintain audit readiness culture and lead/participate in internal/external audits.Drive timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and continuous improvement initiatives with a cross functional approach.Ensure all issued Certificates of Conformance, FAA Form 8130-3, EASA, and CAAC Authorized Release Certificates are accurate, complete, and compliant.

    Leadership & Operations

    Lead daily laboratory operations including metrology, calibration, laboratory testing.Lead certificate issuance operations with QC release and return to service personnel.Supervise and develop quality personnel; manage staffing, training, and performance.Set priorities and ensure timely completion of quality operations support business needs.

    Metrology & Calibration

    Manage all inspection, measurement, and test equipment systems (e.g., LIMS, CMM).Ensure traceability to national/international standards (e.g., NIST).Oversee calibration scheduling, uncertainty analysis, and out-of-tolerance investigations.Evaluate measurement system performance using MSA and Gage R&R techniques.

    External Services, Raw Materials, & Equipment Service Contracts

    Manage external calibration providers and raw material suppliers, including qualification, performance monitoring, certification, and compliance review.Maintain and administer service contracts for laboratory equipment and systems.Ensure supplier deliverables meet applicable quality requirements.

    Technical Oversight & Troubleshooting

    Provide hands-on troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, measurement systems, and other quality processes.Investigate test anomalies and equipment failures; lead RCCA and drive a proactive, preventative culture.Approve test results, calibration certificates, reports, CoCs, and 8130-3 or equivalent certificates when required.

    Continuous Improvement

    Lead Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to improve laboratory performance.Monitor KPIs including calibration compliance, special process performance, measurement system capability, and turnaround time.

    Safety

    Ensure compliance with all company environmental, health, and safety requirements.

    QualificationsEducation

    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field required.

    Experience

    Demonstrated supervisory/management experience in a Quality role of salaried/hourly employees.Preferred to have experience in aerospace, laboratory, or other regulated manufacturing environment.Strong background in metrology, calibration systems, and laboratory operations.Experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, ISO/IEC 17025, FAA 14 CFR 145, EASA, CAAC, and other airworthiness requirements and regulations.
