    Description

    Senior Manager, Quality Assurance and QMS (AS9100/ISO 9001)

    Drive a plant-wide quality management system that meets customer expectations, safeguards safety, and enables production goals. You will own our QMS end‑to‑end, strengthen compliance, and lead people and processes to better performance.

    Core responsibilities

    • Implement, maintain, and improve quality standards, procedures, and work instructions.
    • Serve as the ISO 9001/AS9100 management representative.
    • Manage document control: drafting, revision, approval, release, and archival.
    • Coordinate and record employee training for quality procedures and changes.
    • Support supervisors and production teams with on-the-spot quality guidance.
    • Perform risk identification and analysis; deploy corrective and preventive actions to mitigate quality, safety, and throughput risks.
    • Review and approve process changes with a focus on potential impacts to requirements and controls.
    • Plan and lead internal audits, corrective actions, and effectiveness checks.
    • Prepare for and coordinate customer, regulatory, and certification audits; drive closure of findings.
    • Assess testing and inspection processes; close gaps and improve methods.
    • Partner with suppliers to verify incoming material compliance.
    • Collect, analyze, and present quality metrics; use data to enable proactive improvements.
    • Lead the MRB process for nonconforming material, including investigation and disposition.
    • Engage with customers to investigate and resolve complaints.
    • Conduct or delegate purchase specification reviews.
    • Champion continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure adherence to internal procedures, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
    • Maintain calibration schedules for measurement and test equipment; arrange outside calibration services as needed.
    • Pursue ongoing professional development (training, seminars, best practices).
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Background required

    • Bachelor’s in engineering, science, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
    • 5–7 years in manufacturing quality.
    • Supervisory/management experience required.
    • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100.
    • Proficiency in internal audits, corrective action, root cause, and CI methods.
    • Cross-functional leadership and collaboration skills.
    • Clear written and interpersonal communication.
    • Organization, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
    • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical ability.
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency.

    Preferred

    • Experience supervising a laboratory or quality lab.

    Leadership and people

    May lead quality and lab personnel, including hiring, training, development, and performance management.

    Environment, safety gear, and physical demands

    • Office setting within a manufacturing facility with frequent production-area interaction.
    • Exposure may include fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical equipment, and vibration.
    • Required PPE: hearing protection, chin‑strap hard hat, safety glasses, high‑visibility vest, and safety boots with toe and metatarsal protection.
    • Frequent standing and walking; use of hands to handle/operate materials and equipment; reaching with hands and arms; effective verbal communication.
    • Regular presence on the shop floor is expected.

    Schedule and travel

    • Full-time, typically Monday–Friday during normal business hours; hours may vary with business needs.
    • Occasional travel for customer visits, training, audits, or trips to other company facilities.
