The Opportunity

This position works out of our St Paul, MN location for our Structural Heart business.

Structural Heart Business Mission: Why We Exist

As a Senior Manager Commodity Management, you'll provide vision, leadership, and direction to a high-performing global organization-driving strategic sourcing, supplier excellence, and end-to-end supply chain innovation. This is a highly visible leadership role where your expertise will directly influence business growth, operational excellence, and customer value.

What You'll Work On

In this role, you'll lead a team of Buyers and Commodity Managers responsible for developing and executing global sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and supporting new product development. You will:

  • Lead and develop high-performing teams through coaching, mentorship, and strong communication

  • Define and implement commodity management strategies aligned with business growth and profitability goals

  • Partner with Program Management and Engineering teams to build effective supply chains for new product launches

  • Negotiate and manage complex, high-value development and supply contracts

  • Drive cost optimization, risk reduction, and quality improvements across the supply base

  • Leverage systems like SAP and advanced analytics tools to enable data-driven decision making

  • Design and optimize processes that reduce operational costs, inventory carrying costs, and obsolescence

  • Lead global sourcing and supplier strategies across the full product lifecycle

  • Support M&A activities by assessing supply chain risks and integration strategies

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment across manufacturing, planning, and distribution networks

  • Lead key initiatives such as VMI, Kanban, supplier portals, and global supply chain transformation projects

  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, corporate policies, and quality standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Relevant professional certifications highly valued, such as:

  • CPCM (Certified Professional Contracts Manager)

  • NCMA (National Contract Management Association certification)

  • CCCE (Certified Cost Consultant/Cost Engineer)

  • CPS (Certified Professional in Supply Management)

  • CPCCMP (Certified Professional in Contract & Commercial Management Practices)

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in materials management, sourcing, or purchasing

  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing teams of buyers and commodity managers

  • Strong experience in highly regulated environments (medical device or similar preferred)

  • Expertise with MRP, DRP, ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred), forecasting, and inventory management

  • Proven success in contract negotiation, supplier management, and global sourcing strategies

  • Experience in matrixed, multi-site, global organizations

  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team-building skills

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance risk and opportunity

  • Strong communicator who can influence across all levels of the organization

  • Highly collaborative, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Deep understanding of end-to-end supply chain concepts

  • Continuous improvement mindset (Lean/Six Sigma experience preferred)

  • Ability to travel 10-25% (including internationally)
