Job Summary
Reporting to and partnering with the Vice President for Facilities, the Senior Manager Capital Projects and Campus Infrastructure directly manages the Universitys capital projects including:
- New construction
- Campus infrastructure
- Interior renovation
- Repurposing
- Relocation
- New installation and replacement of non-mechanical electrical and plumbing (MEP) equipment
- Site improvements at the Metropolitan and Florham Campuses.
Assists with or directly manages, as assigned, major MEP utility system and building envelope upgrades and replacements at the Metropolitan and Florham Campuses. Develops proposed/potential capital projects and makes recommendations for project priority based on University need and available resources.
As capital projects are prioritized and approved, directly manages or, as required for regulatory compliance or business need, directly manages consultants to develop capital projects through the programming, budgeting, design, value engineering, construction document development, bidding, approvals, actual construction, documentation, and warranty enforcement phases. Also responsible for off-campus University renovation/repurposing/construction projects as assigned.
Participates in maintaining up-to-date floor plans for all buildings, site utility plans, and the space utilization database.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is required. Masters degree in engineering, business administration, or other related field preferred.
- Ten years of successful capital project management experience is required.
- Significant experience in large-scale facility planning, design, construction, and fiscal management, preferably in higher education.
- A thorough understanding of major facilities systems, including the ability to assess condition of same and the ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of the Universitys infrastructure and facilities systems.
- An understanding of sustainability principles and demonstrated ability to apply them to projects is required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required or required to be attained within the first 3 months of employment. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Project, Procore, or other project management software is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Revit is strongly preferred.
- Must be able to work extended hours and be available to work on an on-call basis in the event of emergencies.
- Must be able to work on the Metropolitan Campus (Teaneck, NJ), the Florham Campus (Madison, NJ), and off-campus locations. Valid drivers license and accessibility to a car is desirable for travel between campuses.
