Job Overview Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice President of Accounting/Controller, this position oversees advanced accounting, financial and compliance reporting, auditing, financial controls, debt accounting, and accounts payable. The role supports Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and other financial systems development and integration, driving innovation and adoption of new technologies. It requires extensive coordination with Airport staff, auditors, customers, and external agencies, exercising sound judgment in resolving complex accounting and auditing issues in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), compliance requirements, and Board policies.What You Will Be Doing Plans, supervises, and monitors the work of the Assistant Manager for Accounts Payable, and the staff responsible for financial, general, and debt accounting.Interviews, selects, evaluates, and provides timely feedback to direct and indirect reports, administering corrective action as necessary. Leads coaching, training, and development by offering guidance, building technical capabilities, and fostering continuous learning.Provides advanced technical guidance and serves as a subject matter expert to the Finance department and other departments, ensuring compliance with GAAP, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, Airport policies, financial controls, and other standards.Oversees month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring all sub‑ledger activity, accruals, cost center data, and special transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger in a complete and timely manner.Monitors general ledger and sub‑ledger journal entry activity to ensure completeness, proper review and approval, holding journal submitters and approvers accountable for procedure and standard compliance.Prepares, reviews, and coordinates transactions and account reconciliations to ensure an accurate trial balance and strong internal controls.Oversees and prepares internal and external financial reports, including ACFR, retirement and OPEB Plan statements, bond disclosures, monthly and quarterly reports, regulatory filings, industry surveys, and ad‑hoc reports.Monitors changes in GAAP, laws, regulations, and Board policies; evaluates their impact; updates policies and procedures accordingly.Leads and manages monthly and annual accounting and reporting for Airport's PFIC entities, including budget and financial outlook processes.Oversees Accounts Payable, ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing, payments, and month‑end activities; drives process improvements and enhances efficiency.Supports senior management in preparing routine and non‑routine accounting, audit, and financial transactions and reports.Interfaces with Airport staff and departments to communicate changes or resolve issues.Performs other related duties as assigned.What You Need Bachelor's degree in accountingCertified Public AccountantFive (5) years of progressively responsible professional‑level accounting experienceThree (3) years of direct supervisory experiencePossession of a valid Class C driver's licenseEquivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the aboveRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of GASB, FASB, and GAAP with ability to apply guidance to complex mattersKnowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines governing receipt, expenditure, and accounting of public fundsProficiency with intermediate‑to‑advanced productivity and data analysis tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and modern technologies such as cloud‑based collaboration platforms and data visualization toolsAbility to analyze and interpret complex contracts and apply appropriate accounting treatmentsStrong research and analytical techniques with critical thinking skillsAbility to design, develop, and implement reports and views using primary data system sourcesAbility to work independently with senior Airport staff and maintain effective working relationships across all levelsAbility to delegate authority and supervise, mentor, and coach professional and technical staffClear and effective communication skills in oral and written formatsSpecial Requirements Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge in accordance with TSA requirements within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for renewalWhat We Desire Master's degree in finance or accountingExperience with Oracle Fusion systemsGovernmental and enterprise fund accounting experienceGovernmental pension and OPEB plans, and Self Insurance accounting experience#J-18808-Ljbffr
