They are currently seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician to join their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$145k - $165k Annually

Position Overview:
This Senior Maintenance Technician position delivers engineering expertise to the Maintenance team aimed at enhancing equipment dependability, operational productivity, safety, and service standards at the refinery dock facilities. The role demands active engagement with heavy dockside machinery and close coordination with dock operations staff.

Responsibilities of the Senior Maintenance Technician:
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Lead root cause failure analyses and defect elimination projects utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Oversee condition-based monitoring programs (e.g., vibration and oil analysis) and coordinate annual inspections for rotating and structural dock equipment.
  • Manage capital project identification, evaluation, and recommendation for equipment upgrades or replacements to improve safety, reliability, and productivity.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to plan and execute maintenance shutdowns and equipment overhauls.
  • Lead regular cross-site operations meetings to review performance metrics and align on improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain and update computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) records, equipment hierarchies, and spare parts inventories.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime safety standards and regulatory requirements, supporting safety audits and inspections.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) processes related to equipment modifications or new installations.
  • Provide advanced technical troubleshooting support for mechanical, hydraulic, and structural issues on dock equipment.
  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of reliability KPIs and dashboards for dock operations.
  • Lead reliability engineering efforts for dockside equipment including ship unloaders, gantry cranes, mobile material handlers, belt and screw conveyors, bucket elevators, and bulk weighing systems
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Maintenance Technician:
  • Proven experience with cranes, ship unloaders, large material handlers, belt and screw conveyors, bucket elevators, bulk scales, and mechanical systems including hydraulic drives, gearboxes, motors, and structural components.
  • Strong familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies, reliability engineering tools, and capital project development and execution.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and experience applying continuous improvement techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and AutoCAD.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Maintenance Technician:
  • Extensive background in operation and maintenance of industrial dockside cranes.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) credential.
  • Knowledge of plant maintenance best practices, agriculture food handling, and GMP standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related Engineering field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in dock reliability operations is required, or
  • High school diploma/GED with 10+ years of relevant experience in dock reliability operations.
