Senior Maintenance Technician – HVAC
Job Description
Piramal Pharma Solutions is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician – HVAC to serve as the site's lead HVAC technical resource supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, optimization, and reliability of commercial and industrial HVAC systems and critical facility utilities.
The Senior Maintenance Technician-HVAC provides technical guidance to maintenance personnel, supports preventive maintenance program development, coordinates contractor activities, and leads troubleshooting of complex equipment and utility systems.
Piramal Pharma Solutions is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician – HVAC to serve as the site's lead HVAC technical resource supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, optimization, and reliability of commercial and industrial HVAC systems and critical facility utilities.
The Senior Maintenance Technician-HVAC provides technical guidance to maintenance personnel, supports preventive maintenance program development, coordinates contractor activities, and leads troubleshooting of complex equipment and utility systems.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced HVAC Technical Support
- Serve as the site's subject matter expert for HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Lead troubleshooting and repair of complex HVAC equipment and environmental control systems.
- Maintain and optimize:
- Air Handling Units (AHUs)
- Rooftop Units (RTUs)
- Chillers
- Refrigeration systems
- Freezers and cold rooms
- Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS)
- Perform advanced diagnostics of compressors, controls, motors, sensors, VFDs, and refrigeration systems.
- Evaluate equipment failures and implement long-term solutions to improve reliability.
Utilities & Facility Systems
- Lead maintenance activities associated with:
- HVAC systems
- Compressed air systems
- Chilled water systems
- Glycol systems
- Steam and condensate systems
- Facility utility infrastructure
- Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of utility equipment.
- Assist with capital projects and facility improvements.
Reliability & Continuous Improvement
- Develop, improve, and optimize preventive maintenance programs.
- Analyze maintenance trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Support operational excellence initiatives that improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Assist with spare parts strategy and inventory management.
Leadership & Technical Guidance
- Provide mentoring and technical training to maintenance personnel.
- Coordinate and oversee HVAC contractors and service providers.
- Support maintenance planning and scheduling activities.
- Assist management with prioritization of maintenance projects and resources.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure GMP-compliant maintenance documentation and recordkeeping.
- Utilize CMMS systems to manage work orders and asset maintenance histories.
- Support audits, inspections, deviations, investigations, and CAPA activities.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, environmental, and corporate standards.
Education & Experience
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Technical Trade School, Journeyman Certification, or equivalent HVAC technical training.
- Minimum 5-7 years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience.
- EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex HVAC, refrigeration, and utility systems.
Preferred
- Experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, food, or other GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS).
- Experience with CMMS platforms such as SAP or equivalent systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Advanced understanding of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Strong knowledge of utility systems including chilled water, steam, condensate, compressed air, and glycol systems.
- Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation drawings.
- Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems up to 480V.
- Ability to lead technical projects and mentor team members.
