We are searching for the best talent for Senior Maintenance Technician. This fully onsite position will be located in Athens, Georgia.

The Senior Maintenance Technician is responsible for repair and maintains plant equipment and facilities to enhance a safe and efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, instrumentation, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
  • Advance proactive maintenance strategies: Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs for critical equipment to maximize uptime and performance.
  • Partner to optimize maintenance planning: Collaborate with planning and scheduling teams to proactively coordinate maintenance activities, minimize downtime, and support seamless production operations.
  • Enable process improvements and innovation: Interpret technical drawings and specifications to support minor process changes, equipment modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure readiness of maintenance resources: Manage and optimize spare parts inventory to maintain availability of critical components and support uninterrupted operations.
  • Build team capability through training and coaching: Mentor and train maintenance and operations personnel on equipment troubleshooting, repair practices, and SOP adherence to strengthen site capability.
  • Champion safety, quality, and compliance: Lead and reinforce a strong safety culture by implementing training, reviewing permits, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements (FDA, EPA, OSHA, DEA) and company standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive results: Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and EHS teams to improve equipment performance, support efficient changeovers, and advance Lean and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining high standards of housekeeping and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma required
  • Technical school training in a mechanical trade is preferred

Required

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as an industrial mechanic or in a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to independently replace pump mechanical seals
  • Ability to fabricate and install threaded piping in alignment with engineering drawings
  • Experience erecting, locating, and anchoring equipment according to technical specifications
  • Ability to work safely in physically demanding and potentially hazardous environments, including chemical handling
  • Proficiency in computer-based systems, including data entry, report generation, and analysis using tools such as spreadsheets and reporting software
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (DDC), computerized maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo or SAP)
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of site equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of Process Excellence, Lean, or continuous improvement principles

Preferred

  • Experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceutical, chemical, or other cGMP environments)
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify opportunities, and act on solutions to improve operations
  • SMRP preferred
