Senior Machinist - Tooling and Fabrication

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior-Level Machinist to join our Tooling and Fabrication team in Simi Valley, CA. In this position, you will be responsible for setting up and operating both standard and specialized machining equipment to manufacture metallic and non-metallic parts. You will also program and run CNC machines, including Hybrid CNC mills, along with manual mills, lathes, grinders, bandsaws, and other shop equipment as required. This role demands a solid understanding of machining processes, materials, tooling, and layout methods.

Primary Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Program, set up, and operate HAAS CNC machines and Hybrid CNC mills.
• Set up and operate lathes, mills, and other manual/conventional machinery.
• Machine and grind parts to exact specifications.
• Select, design, fabricate, and install fixtures, tooling, and related accessories.
• Determine appropriate speeds and feeds based on material and tooling requirements.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
• Use computer systems to access files, print drawings, and review 3D models with tools such as eDrawings.
• Minimum of 5 years of CAD/CAM experience (Mastercam or RhinoCAM preferred).
• Carry out assignments from the Working Foreman and collaborate with team members as needed.

Work Environment

• Elevated noise levels from operating equipment.
• Exposure to hazards such as moving mechanical components.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Lift and move objects weighing:
• Up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Up to 25 lbs frequently.
• Up to 10 lbs constantly.
• Use hands and fingers to handle or feel materials and tools.
• Ability to bend, push, pull, and reach overhead.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 7–10 years of practical machining experience (manual machining or similar).
• 5–8 years of CNC programming and operation experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Vocational or technical certification in machining.
• 5–10 years of experience in a machining or fabrication setting.
• Strong math and mechanical skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
• Advanced capability in blueprint reading and 3D model interpretation.
• Team-focused attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and perform well under pressure.
