General Information

Work Location: 1112 Manatee Avenue West, Suite 969, Bradenton, Florida 34205

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Expected Starting Salary Range: $55,000.00 - $76,432.00

Employees in this class work under the direct supervision of the Risk Manager of the County Attorneys office. Employees within this class perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks in the daily operation of the Self-Insurance Program including research, analysis, and adjusting of auto, auto liability, general liability, property, and workers' compensation claims asserted against Manatee County, Florida.

Note: This position has been designated by the Manatee County Commission as serving at the will and pleasure of the County Attorney. Employees so designated may be terminated at any time with or without cause.

Working Conditions

Indoor/outdoor situation; high noise environment while performing certain responsibilities. Lifting equipment up to 50 lbs. alone; up to 100 lbs. with assistance.

Job Description

Area of Assignment: Auto Liability; General Liability

Review all accident and incident injury forms and claims.

Determine and set appropriate reserves; input and maintain accurate claims and investigation files in department database including those for subrogation purposes.

Open, evaluate and manage new claims as well as managing and tracking existing claims.

Follow up as needed with attorneys, adverse adjusters, and/or third-party adjusters regarding the status of a claim.

Attend meditations, depositions, and hearings; review demand packages and determine case and settlement value; negotiate and settle claims within designated authority, including restitution settlements.

Prepare correspondence, memoranda and reports.

Monitor restitution payments.

Prepare loss run reports.

Attend meetings.

Train various department staff on procedures to report claims.

Perform various duties as requested by the Risk Manager and/or the County Attorney.

Performs such other duties or related work (including weather or extreme emergency tasks) as the County Attorney may assign or require.

Area of Assignment: Property Claims

Review of all claim forms and claims regarding property loss due various causes.

Determine and set appropriate reserves; input and maintain accurate claims and investigation files in department database, including those for subrogation purposes.

Open, evaluate and manage new claims as well as managing and tracking existing claims.

Follow up as needed with appropriate property professionals, including engineers, builders, repair and maintenance personnel, inspectors, attorneys, and/or third-party adjusters regarding the status of a claim.

Attend meditations, depositions, and hearings; review demand packages and determine case and settlement value; negotiate and settle claims within designated authority.

Prepare correspondence, memoranda and reports.

Prepare loss run reports.

Attend meetings.

Train various department staff on procedures to report claims.

Perform various duties as requested by the Risk Manager and/or the County Attorney.

Performs such other duties or related work (including weather or extreme emergency tasks) as the County Attorney may assign or require.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Legal Studies, Business, Public Administration, or related field.

Minimum five (5) years experience adjusting insurance claims with an emphasis in the area of assignment.

Valid drivers license required with valid Florida drivers license required within 30 days of hire.

State of Florida All Lines Adjuster License, or the ability to obtain prior to start date required.

Comparable or equivalent combinations of education, training and work experience may be considered a reasonable substitute for the minimum qualifications.
