In our Safety Practice, we deeply commit to advancing fall protection through engineering, procedures, training, and compliance.We are looking to fill the role of Senior-level Structural Engineer in our Dayton, Ohio office. The engineer will analyze, design, plan, and fabricate structural components and systems as they lead fall protection projects.Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.Benefits: View our 2026 Benefits Summary.Essential FunctionsManage internal teams to complete projects by creating plans, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines.Perform QC reviews and oversight of project calculations and deliverables.Analyze building components used to support fall protection systems, including structural steel framing, cold‑formed steel framing, and cast‑in‑place concrete.Develop. layouts of fall protection systems to address customer needs and coordinate with existing structures.Assist with the preparation of construction documents needed for the installation of fall protection systems.Execute engineering tasks within Revit and other CAD software.Prepare calculations detailing engineering design.Coordinate projects by communicating with clients regarding issues and attending meetings.Maintain technical knowledge through completion of various training initiatives, including seminars, professional publications, and in‑house systems/management training.Additional Responsibilities And DutiesWillingness to travel (overnight stays based on supported projects) to various U.S.‑based locations.Analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency.React quickly and calmly to high‑pressure situations.Work independently and collaboratively in team settings.ERP experience required; Deltek Vantagepoint preferred.Knowledge or training in OSHA/ANSI fall protection standards.Ability to pass background checks, drug tests, and MVR checks.Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in civil, architectural, or mechanical engineering with structural emphasis required (master's degree preferred).8+ years' engineering experience, with a preference for fall protection design.Professional Engineer (PE).CAD experience (Revit and Bluebeam preferred); RAM, STRAP, or other structural analysis software experience.Preferred QualificationsStructure Engineer (SE).Knowledge of industry codes and standards such as OSHA 1926 and ANSI Z359.Core SkillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Physical RequirementsTraverse worksite in different weather conditions; bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to perform duties.Meet the weight capacity of design perimeters of fall protection systems (between 130 to 310 lbs.).Understand exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.Lift up to 50 pounds at a time.Why Join LJB?In this role, you will gain hands‑on experience designing practical fall protection solutions that keep workers safe across a variety of industrial, commercial, and institutional environments.
