Key Responsibilities --------------------
Legal Counsel and Compliance Provide timely comprehensive legal counsel and guidance on labor and employment issues, particularly regarding California employment law compliance.
Policy and Procedure Oversight Advise on and assist in the drafting, revising, and reviewing of HR policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Risk Management Keep senior management informed of significant labor and employment decisions, new legislation, and regulatory changes affecting the companys operations and policies.
Training and Development Provide training to the Human Resources team and business leaders on employment laws, including:
• ADA • Title VII • FMLA • Workplace safety • Workers compensation
Research and Investigation Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to develop informed guidance on employment-related topics, including working conditions and safety requirements. Handle internal investigations, respond to employment-related claims, demand letters, and administrative complaints.
Litigation Management Assist in the management of various litigation and dispute resolution matters, coordinate with external legal counsel as needed.
Legal Strategy Development Support the broader legal team in formulating strategies to align legal approaches with business objectives.
Strategic Business Support Develop a deep understanding of the companys business, industry trends, and competitive landscape. Provide legal support to various business initiatives on an as-needed basis.
