Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

ITS Enterprise Applications (EA) develops and implements software solutions for University enterprises and other campus users. The team supports existing applications within the University's ConnectCarolina enterprise report management system, including ConnectCarolina's finance, human resources and payroll pieces and student administration.

Position Summary

This position is a 100% remote work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The Enterprise Applications (EA) Senior IT Business Analysis (BA) performs work that consists of identifying business needs, defining requirements, validating solutions through testing and ensuring customers are prepared for using delivered technology-based solutions.

BAs at this level are expected to perform the most complex work independently. This position works closely with other EA analysts and developers, peers in ITS, and customers to ensure enterprise applications are well documented, supported and evolve to meet changing business needs. The Senior IT BA will provide mentorship and knowledge transfer to other analysts, coaching less experienced peers.

Senior BAs serve as a liaison between the business and the project team to improve productivity and developing and delivering training. BAs at this level apply project management methodology as required to ensure delivery of effective solutions. Senior BAs will display expertise in one or more business areas and their integration points and contribute to strategic planning of systems and technology directions. This role applies a strong understanding of the business functions and system needs of a work unit to develop business requirements.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's and 1-2 years' experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft ERP Applications in Higher Education
  • Knowledge of business applications development life cycle
  • Knowledge of project management principles and processes
  • SQL experience (structured query language).

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to interact and communicate effectively with non-technical clients and with all levels in the organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on tasks, develop own work schedule, and monitor progress against defined parameters
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and document processes and requirement specifications
  • Ability to transfer knowledge and other important or relevant information to stakeholders and end users

Special Physical/Mental Requirements

Ability to work under stress related to production and project timelines; work requires only minor physical exertion and/or physical strain.
