Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer to support the design and development of instrumentation and control systems for industrial projects. This role involves preparing detailed design drawings, coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and ensuring all deliverables meet project specifications, quality standards, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with strong drafting and design experience who can work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and develop instrumentation and control design drawings, layouts, plans, sections, elevations, and detailed installation drawings.
  • Produce design deliverables from engineering sketches, specifications, reference drawings, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate instrumentation and controls drawings with electrical, mechanical, process, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Perform routine engineering calculations required to support design documentation.
  • Review and coordinate drawing packages to ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining instrument layouts, control system documentation, and related design packages.
  • Conduct site visits and field walkdowns to verify existing conditions and collect design information when required.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers while supporting project schedules and deliverables.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company quality procedures and project requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Instrumentation Design, Drafting, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation and controls design.
  • Proficiency with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
  • Experience participating in SmartPlant 3D (SP3D) model reviews; experience with AVEVA E3D is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation and control system design principles and drafting standards.
